MODS

Complete | Natsume Kazuki | 2000 released

Okay, what was with that final shot, though? Was there supposed to be more, or is there something I'm missing? Blah, I don't like that, but otherwise it's a great story. Very emotional and sad. I cried my eyes out and got a headache. But it's a beautiful story and I wish there were more. I love stuff like this. Tora is such a lovely seme. Their whole world is complicated but fascinating, and I'm so glad I finally finished this.

Rumspringa no Joukei

Complete | Azuma kaya | 2000 released

The ending was really sad for me. I know it's supposed to be a happy ending, or a bittersweet ending, but I hate the finality of it. I can't stand that "we know we'll never see each other again" stuff. It killed me in Smells Like Green Spirit, too. Platonic love is just as important as romantic love, and it hurts so much to see it broken that way. At any rate, the main character is so freaking pretty, and I liked him a lot. The amish guy was cute. I kept feeling like there was something they could have done more, like the story didn't quite reach its full potential. But overall, I liked it.

Ai O Kou Kemono

Complete | hakutou noriko | 2011 released

I mostly skimmed it, but it has a downer ending and way more incest in it than I can tolerate. Not a fan of it in general, and this was just creepy to the max. I always forget what manga this is until the ending with the fire. I don't know why.

Me wo Tojite Yume wo Miru

Complete | BOX,TSUKUMO Gou | 2016 released

So sad! It made me cry, but I'm so glad they could be together in the end. I know the age gap makes it weird, but since the guy didn't know, I'll forgive it a little. I wish we could have seen more of what happened with that whole thing, and the choice to not show his face at the end is a little odd, but I guess it's leaving it open to just let us know he's happy and healthy. Finally someone loves him and wants to take care of him.

Senya Ichiya - Shitone no Himegoto

Complete | okadaya tetuzoh | 2009 released

This was a very sweet story. I'm not crazy about the art style, but it did get better, especially after Aoi cut his hair. The ending with the daddy made me cry. The first resolution regarding the lover was a little too convenient for me, but it was still a nice tale. Oh, and I loved the butch lesbian! I don't think I've ever seen an older, masculine woman who liked ladies in manga.

Furimuite Yukino-chan!

Complete | Machi Yayoi , Niko Yuki | 2019 released

Aw, a very sweet little story. I'm really happy about the secondary couple, too. I was hoping from the start, as I'm sure many others were. But I almost feel like this needs a sequel to expand more on everything. Regardless, I enjoy that it doesn't do what her other work does with the misunderstandings and all that crap. It was... a little like that, but not really. It worked well enough for me. Not a perfect manga, but sweet and light with a happy ending all around.

Sin

Complete | Ka Yu Jin | 2000 released

Too rushed and short to make much of an impact. It's sad to be that he had confused feelings over a father figure, but I'm really glad nothing ever happened between them. It does make you wonder if he's denying his sexuality, though, which would be a bummer.

The Perfect Relationship

Complete | Akkang, Sam | 2017 released

Pretty sad, fucked up story. Definitely depressing with no real relief. I feel so bad for that high school student, though I'm glad he was given comfort and held and such, allowed to cry. I hope that after this, he and the other guy, the main dude's boyfriend, both have happier lives. Maybe he'll help the high schooler get out of his situation. Maybe when he's older, they'll date, and they can both feel like they accomplished things they thought they wouldn't. Either way, definitely a downer, but most of the characters weren't likable enough for it to really sting. His son, though. Ugh, it was so cruel. Right into the end, just how kind and trusting he was. Not something I'd reread, but not awful. Just a bummer.

Rojiura Pussycat

Complete | TORIBA Yuuji | 2019 released

It's really a shame that this started with rape. It wasn't perfect throughout, but I would have liked the story so much more if it didn't start with violent sexual assault and another stupid uke who somehow logics his way into getting repeatedly fucked when he doesn't want to. I hate those tropes SO damn much. If this story had been about two consensual fuck buddies from the start, it would have been so satisfying. Watching the cold seme show that he's falling in other ways, that scene where he beats the crap out of those guys... It all would have meant so much more if their own beginning hadn't been super gross. Especially all of the emphasis on him being a kid. It was just weird. But somehow I didn't completely hate it. Maybe because I pretended the first chapter or so wasn't real.
