Cold Rain Of Happiness

Ongoing | HIBAKICHI | 2006 released

I read this ages ago, and it's still as weird as I remember. It is indeed strange and very disturbing, but I wouldn't say it's the most shocking thing I've ever seen. Maybe I've been reading yaoi too long. Rape is so common in yaoi, but maybe the fact that it's portrayed as awful and traumatizing, instead of the first stages of romance, and because of the bestiality element, people are horrified. Oh well, at least it's pretend.

Kusatta Rasen

Complete | ogawa chise | 2000 released

It's not a dynamic I'd typically be about, but I'd actually read more of this if it existed. Oddly alluring.

Yajirushi

Complete | Harada | 2015 released

Heartbreaking, twisted, incredibly fucked up. But I loved it. This is just a field trip into the mind of a psychopath/sexual predator, and it's a terrifying but strangely alluring journey. I wanted to cry a few times because I felt for the victims so much. I guess the fact that I enjoy reading stuff like this when I have an overabundance of empathy makes me a bit of a masochist. Oh well, heh.

Yami Bl

Ongoing | asou mitsuaki, kizuki jin, konjiki runa, kuroda kuz , london pariko, mitsumi kokusei, ogawa chise, oshima akiko, shoowa, takahashi, oshi | 2013 released

Very depressing but in a satisfying way. That's all I can really ask. I'm eager to see the other stories, so I hope they're translated soon. ETA: I was surprised, at first, that chapter four wasn't as fucked up as the rest. After a second read through, I really like it. I think cheerful creepy is some of the best creepy, that moment when things seem okay, but we know they're not. Chapter five was quite morbid and hilarious. It's nice to have a little dark humor in there to even out the soul-crushing stories.

Sasayaku no wa Sono Yubi

Complete | YAMAKAMI Riyu | 2000 released

And then he realized his true feelings, and all of the rape and torture and choking and kidnapping were okay! Hurray! Seriously, though, at least I knew what I was getting into reading this. For what it was, it wasn't too bad. I had already prepared myself for the irritating "it's okay because love" trope, so it didn't bug me as much as it could have.

Déjà-vu (monchi Kaori)

Ongoing | monchi kaori | 2000 released

The first one... I don't know if it was just poorly translated or what, but it was really confusing. I get what happened, mostly, but as things were occurring, I was mostly lost. The second one was a lot better, even though it was equally fucked up. I enjoyed it in the sense that it was treated as something dark and sick. I feel like most stories like this don't truly delve into that, the whole sexual predator element. Though, of course, it's too much to ask to see a guy like that actually pay for what he did to a child. Oh well, fiction!
