Namida mo Tooku - Aonibi no Nemuri

Complete | honjoh rie | 2009 released

The first story is sad and futile. The second story is interesting, but there's no forgiving rape, especially not so casually. No excuse for that shit. The last story is dorky and cute, kind of unfitting with the other two. It wasn't a bad read, even with its flaws. The translation is slightly off, but not so bad that you can't understand what's happening.

Not/love

Ongoing | Miyamoto Kano | 2003 released

I'm always so sad for Bun. I hope eventually he gets a happy ending. Daisuke is so hot, but he's such an asshole. I'm torn between wanting them together despite that and wanting Daisuke to get dumped by Bun and his wife and both of them ending up with guys who treat them well. Or, even better, he stops with the lies and they just have an open, three-way monogamous relationship. I wish more stories like this ended that way.

Hydra 5+6

Complete | Miyamoto Kano | 2005 released

Rules Dj - Real Thing

Complete | Miyamoto Kano | 2007 released

Nichijousahan Bi - Beautiful Life

Complete | Moto Haruhira,Moto Haruko | 2010 released

Very sweet, but the seme could be a bit of a jerk at times. I don't like it when a character is blamed for being victimized. At any rate, it was an otherwise touching story that made me cry. I'm glad there was a happy ending.

Atokata

Complete | kiyuhiko | 2015 released

It's a little too rushed and clunky to be as sad as it could be, but it was okay. I like the artist, and the ending was better as it was, letting the reader fill in the rest. Three stars is fitting, I think.

Nobody Knows

Ongoing | shoowa | 2000 released

So heartbreaking. I kind of hate AI related romance for so many reasons. It's like an immortal and a mortal in love. One will live and die and the other will exist and then stop existing. It makes me feel like there's no true happy ending when one of the people isn't real. That aside, I just love this mangaka. I've been meaning to read some of her work all this time, and I can't believe it took me so long. I adore her art and her approach to story in general. I just hope I end up feeling satisfied by the conclusions of this one.

Non Tea Room

Complete | shoowa | 2007 released

I'm so glad I'm finally reading this author. Who cares if I have to get up in seven hours to go to work? I'm gonna keep reading what I can get my hands on until I pass out. This was a very sweet and sad little story, but ultimately it was satisfying. I'd like to see Arthur, even after the mistakes he made, find a happy ending, too. I'm hoping there's a spin-off with him out there somewhere, other than the sad little oneshot about his doomed relationship with Renji. Anyway, beautiful all around. This mangaka has instantly shot up into my favorites list.

Nega

Complete | harada | 2000 released

I wonder why the follow up with that sad love triangle isn't on here. It's translated. I haven't seen it on the site in general, which is weird. Anyway, read most of these separately, but a few were new to me. I fucking love Harada, ugh. Honestly, in the grand scheme of things, these weren't as bad as they could have been as far as soul crushing. Sad, still, especially the first one. No one wins, and it sucks. I wish she'd continue it beyond the second part. Why can't they share, damn it? More love triangles need to end like that.

RESTART (Harada)

Complete | Harada | 2000 released

Read this one already in one of her other anthologies, but I read it again because I love it and it makes me cry. Even though it's a little bittersweet, this one is actually a happy ending in its own way. They love one another, and that's all that matters, even if they had to go through that stuff to be able to admit it. At least now they can be together.
