Kami-sama Darling
Hmmm... Pushy seme, but it's cute enough. Waiting for the next chapters.
Transient Flower
Very sad, but powerful and meaningful. The story wouldn't have had the same impact with a happy ending, but I wish I could see more of this character. She's interesting, and her story begs to be examined further. Oh well. I wish I could see her ripping out the hearts of those dick guys from before. It kind of reminds me of this horror manga that I found hilarious, about a girl who starves herself to get a guy to like her, and after she gets super skinny, he's into her, but as they kiss, she gets incredibly hungry from starving herself so long and eats him. That's how all guys like that should be handled.
Deadlock
I love it so far, hate to wait for an update but it's worth it. I'm hoping there'll be a bit more action (both of the nonsexual and the sexual nature) in the upcoming chapters, but I'm intrigued either way. I appreciate how attractive so many of the characters are, too. This art is gorgeous, and the artist really knows how to portray different types of attractive features, so we can generally tell everyone apart pretty well. And I know that BB is a rapist and all that, but he is so damn hot. I mean, Yuuto, you're the uke in a violent yaoi manga. If you're gonna get assaulted, it may as well be by a good looking dude, right? Ha.
Nobody Knows
So heartbreaking. I kind of hate AI related romance for so many reasons. It's like an immortal and a mortal in love. One will live and die and the other will exist and then stop existing. It makes me feel like there's no true happy ending when one of the people isn't real. That aside, I just love this mangaka. I've been meaning to read some of her work all this time, and I can't believe it took me so long. I adore her art and her approach to story in general. I just hope I end up feeling satisfied by the conclusions of this one.
Non Tea Room
I'm so glad I'm finally reading this author. Who cares if I have to get up in seven hours to go to work? I'm gonna keep reading what I can get my hands on until I pass out. This was a very sweet and sad little story, but ultimately it was satisfying. I'd like to see Arthur, even after the mistakes he made, find a happy ending, too. I'm hoping there's a spin-off with him out there somewhere, other than the sad little oneshot about his doomed relationship with Renji. Anyway, beautiful all around. This mangaka has instantly shot up into my favorites list.
Tamen De Gushi
I really like this so far! Lovely art, likable characters, sweet plot. I would have given it five stars, but I thought it was going to avoid that super typical "one person really likes the other, but the other pretends to be straight for half the story," and I'm disappointed that it's fallen into that typical equation. Regardless, I look forward to seeing it from here on out, and I'll be glad when they just get past the stupid already and start dating. I hope that isn't too long from now. ETA: Aww, I wanna see more of that guy who kissed Qin Xiong! But there are so many passing characters who don't seem to actually have anything to do with the story that I won't hold my breath. It's a shame, though, cause he was hot, and I already wanted to know more about him just from that brief interaction.
Melancholic Mellow Mellow
I don't know if I can read this whole thing. Gonna try, I guess, but the yaoi rape is so disgusting. It isn't like most of them where the guy puts up a fight for two seconds then gets into it, which I still hate but at least we can pretend it was secretly consensual all along. Rape is treated so casually here, and I don't know if that was what the author intended, but it's so gross and uncomfortable. How can you go on from that and act like it's some sort of cute love story? I don't want them to end up together. I want Madoka to get hit by a bus. So I'm not sure if I can go forward. But yeah... I'm gonna try. I don't like leaving manga unfinished. And the art is just so pretty, so I'm really bummed.
Jibun Katte.
This was one of the few BL stories I've read where I REALLY wanted them to just stay friends. Tomo is obviously straight, and I loved that he was so supportive to Hideaki being gay. It's hard to have an unrequited love, but I wanted to see them each find happiness while continuing to love one another platonically. I hate the "It's okay if it's you" trope SO much, and the sudden shift comes out of nowhere. Tomo never once showed any indication that he harbored romantic feelings for Hideaki, and the ending comes across as forced because of it. I'm still rating it high just because the art was beautiful, and I otherwise really enjoyed the story. But damn it. And I was surprised to see Hideaki's role in the bedroom, as was Tomo, it seems. They're sweet, but I feel like the manipulation and weirdness between them should have been better addressed.
Namaiki Hierarchy
Damn it. I loved the first story, and I ADORE the art, but that second story is just so creepy. And not in the fun way. I just can't stand yaoiland rules where assault isn't assault as long as it turns out the dude had a boner for you all along. Molesting a sleeping person is gross, and it made it really hard for me to keep reading. Had to drop my five star rating down because of it. What's worse is it's the longest story in here. It's a yaoi cliche full of uncomfortable stuff, so I'm pretty disappointed. I'll keep my review for the other story here, though. FIRST STORY: Very cute so far. I was worried something else would happen and misunderstandings would delay them coming together. Glad that wasn't the case! It was actually really cute how he was purposely teasing him and planning to finally reward him. I wish more manga touched on that, because there's something kind of hot about a guy making another guy wait just for fun, even though he knows they're going to have sex in the end.
