I am so deeply saddened by the sudden ending of season 1... I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE CONTINUATION GODDAMN IT, THERE IS NO CHAPTER 41 ANYWHERE, I HAD ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THIS MANHWA WAS ALREADY FINISHED!!!!! Tbh, at first I was wondering if this is even alright to read, because it seemed taboo, cuz, you know, she was adopted into the family... But then I realised that today it wouldn't be okay by any means but I need to remember that in this fictional world, that works a bit like 18th century's society, men and women enter the adult world at the age of 19 and have balls from where on they go off into the marriage market. And it is just way different than a standard family nowadays. Plus, if we look at it story wise, it is fine. The father's first love, Liam, died and Rachel is his only child and daughter of the Emrald family. That's why duke De Leon takes her in at the age of 10. He begins treating her like a daughter and insists on her calling him "father" or "dad", but at some point the maids begin questioning whether she is in the mansion, because she will later on be married off to the duke's son - Lucian. And Ray is obviously petrified, because she never looked at him in that light (she thought he was gay and was bound to his love from the original story, Noah, but Rachel changed the plot, so...). Even the duke knows that Lucian loves her and is close to her - that's why he tries to separate them. But not because it's not okay (again, for them it's a normal procedure to adopt a bride before marrying her off to the son of the family), instead Lucian reminds the duke of his father, who was against the duke's first love and Rachel's late father, Liam. So he just felt very conflicted whenever he saw them together. I still feel a bit uneasy, because I can't imagine them together, because, well, I still view her as his sister. But I guess that we have to remember that it's normal for their relationship to go that way - she was the only person that ever accepted him and comforted him, she made everyone else acknowledge his presence and bare his existence. She has always been his only source of solace and comfort. They are not related and she was taken in, because her late father, Liam, was a close family friend of the Duke's. Had Rachel's parents not died, it would have been a completely usual marriage and love by adults from families that just like each other. So I don't view it as too weird, it was expected. But even so, I still can't get used to it. I mean, at the same time, they lived together for only 2 years and then she went to the South. They have never been true brother and sister, because Lucian was already 15 when she arrived and she was a child of a family friend.

At first I did not like this manhwa ONE BIT. In fact, the first time I was reading it, I dropped it, because I hate smut. I still hate it but oh well, I really wanted to see the story for myself. Truth is, the only reason I even decided to read it is because I saw a video on Youtube about it. I didn't watch the video but instead jsut read the manhwa, since I had always been curious about the actual story, cuz it is one of the most popular BLs out there. Which is.... I don't know why tbh... I mean, it was good but nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to the plot and storyline. It was just fine. Pretty interesting actually. I guess it became extremely famous because it was one of the earlier ones and had a ton of well-drawn smut in it. Overall, I hated Jiwon (Alex) at first. He was a total douchebag and a jerk. He didn't love the bottom ml (forgot his name) at all for half of the story and ml was head over heels for him, doing anything and everything in his power to satisfy Alex. Alex, on the other hand, was demanding, toxic, abusive at some points. He got jealous multiple times and took it out on Jiwoo (I think that was the ml's name). It was honestly hard to watch, because Jiwoo hated every second of it. But kept going back to Alex which infuriated me. But finally, after Jiwoo left Alex for good (which I was rooting for since the beginning lmao), Alex found out he actually loves him. I blamed Alex a lot throughout the story. But then his background and life up until that point came up on the screen and my sympathy took over. I actually understood why he was the way he was (aka toxic, distant, a jerk, not able to express love, scared of loving and thus toxic and cold), which made me care more about their relationship. What I absolutely loved was the way he changed for his love (after he was finally honest with himself and confessed, almost at the end of the story) He became the sweetest person walking the Earth, he was ready to do anything and everything (just like Jiwoo till the end) for Jiwoo. It was honestly the best and most adorable sight ever. I am rooting for their relationship, it's so wholesome and cute. About the smut... Well, there is absolutely no shadow of a doubt that it is drawn GORGEOUSLY because the creator really took care of every little detail and panel. It doesn't change the fact that I hate smut, I still do, but it was drawn and shown beautifully and truthfully nonetheless.

What the actual fuck was this.

I honestly didn't expect such a turn of events, everything ended up with a happily ever after, which was... The most unexpected thing ever... Idk, I thought it would be dark angst, because of the way it started and the first chapters which especially showed Will's devotion and obsession and whatnot but he actually seemed a tiny bit more normal towards the end. I guess Chat coming back to life was his savior. I loved the sidestories we got to see which were an explanation to why the characters act the way they do basically. Very cute, beautiful even, I loved them. They actually ketp me entertained which I also wasn't expecting, since usually such stories are not the most interesting. Yeah, pretty much a very nice, surprisingly light read despite of the heavy topics covered (primarily death) 8.5/10

That was.... Interesting.

It was good, though not perfect. The story line definitely had some plot holes to it, but nevertheless, it was enjoyable, to say the least. I spent the past 5 hours reading it and I don't regret it. The story, towards the end, was for some reason very rushed. And by rushed I mean that it would have time skips and jumps in the story in the same chapter. And it happened many, many times. And the timeskips would be quite a few. It could be that the creator wanted to leave everything else for the audience to imagine for themselves. But even so, some holes were pretty big and that's why I gave it 4/5 stars. The logic of the characters was also pretty odd, but oh well, it's a manhwa. Beautiful art, hot character design, not very detailed when it comes to anyone else's personality except for the male and female lead tho. Everyone else sort of disappeared towards the end as well. Again, could be that the author wanted us to imagine the rest on our own, but still...

I completely forgot to return and give it a review, because it's not finished here and I read the last chapters in a different site. So It was honestly very thrilling, at some point I was a little weirded out how sudden the change was when she realized his feelings towards her, but I guess it's also understandable, because... How else is the story supposed to progress... And I absolutely fell in love with the way he was head over heels for her when HE realized the feelings he had for HER, so yeah... Loved it He was extremely gentle and seemed like a good father, so good for them, I liked the ending too I wish I could give more details but it's been a whiiiile since I read it last, so yeah.... She is an extremely strong person, mentally and physically, and he gets whipped because of her wish and desire to live. Because she is the only person who ever wanted to live so much, the only person he was willing to let get away unscathed. But she returned and he fell, so then when she went back to her country and was "fired" from her millitary position (more like let go, idk how to describe it, she was made go home), he did everything he could in order to get her to he his guard Which was quite funny to all people, honestly, a beast like him, needing a guard??? A FEMALE guard at that too????????? Should have known something was up, I swear At first, I thought that the woman at the beginning who was trying to seduce the half-french half-arabic prince was the main female lead. So I expected something cool happening... But she died in an instant.... And then came in the female guard to clean up the prince's mess and I figured it out ahahaha Honestly, a read worth reading hehe Also, he is EXTREMELY obsessed That was how I discovered the manhwa, he is just so whipped, I swear, he was even willing to give up his life for her at the end, which was something I did NOT expect to see from HIM. What a lovely specimen. OH, I just remembered!! That other guy, who was the prince's cousin, I am pretty sure we all thought he fell for the FL too, but turns out he was kind of playing her??? I got confused at that part, because he didn't like her, at all, he was in love with the prince's dead half-sister Sooo, I still don't understand why he the things he did, which weren't drastic but the occasional flirting... Idk, maybe he was trying to forget his only love, who knows But he is an extremely good guy till the end nonetheless Loved it, no critique, only wished for more

To be honest, the ending felt a tiiiiny bit rushed to me but at the same time, I absolutely loved it. Cho Ayeon... This guy... Having really conflicted feelings towards him, he definitely liked Jaerim and tried to get Yuri out of the picture by making him look at him and Jaerim making out but... This guy, out of desperation for all sorts of reasons, almost raped Jaerim.... It was quite disgusting but at the same time damn, the drama I love how much Yuri and Jaerim cherish each other, the manhwa took a HUGE turn at some point. It was a lovey-dovey chase, because Jaerim did NOT like Yuri at first. And then... Damn, it became dark and so many things happened at once, Yuri had a serious mental trauma/illness, Jaerim loved him endlessly, Ayeon almost raped Jaerim, we got to know more about the bitch Soyeon.. That made all of this happen btw, so glad she stayed a villain till the end. Ayeon got his "redemption arc", don't know how I feel about him still, pretty cute tho (aaaand he's gorgeous, so sad the love triangle I was expecting turned into this messy plot... But it was interesting nonetheless)

Honestly not what I originally expected, even though I could predict the plot less than halfway through, it was pretty good and had some moments I still did not expect. I loved it more than I thought I would, so that says a lot The characters are well-drawn and the story was very unique and intriguing

I finally read this. I finally finished the manhwa I had started over and over again so many times. It was... An emotional rollercoaster a lot of the times, because of how quickly some things changed in the span of a single chapter - for example, a character's mood, sometimes even their style (the way they were drawn) and some other things That one comment that said that the ending felt a bit rushed - absolutely, in my opinion it should have been carried out in the span of at least 10 chapter, while it had only 2-3. But even so, I still absolutely adored it, it made my heart pound and my tears spill, so I guess I couldn't really complain. I really loved this series. It was a story of redemption, where the main villain turned out to be a morally gray, antihero character instead. I wouldn't exactly excuse all of his actions, but I do believe most of them could be justified at least to an extent. Sibel's past made me cry, no doubt in that. The art style was really pretty, I definitely dig it, it's just that it changed so many times throughout the story, but I guess it can't be helped, when many people work on the same project over a long period of time - their styles evolve and change. What I didn't particularly like was the very confusing dynamic at some point of our main couple, it would be a game of cat and mouse with the roles switching every few chapters Marilyn's feelings changed kind of overnight, I didn't exactly get that But nonetheless, still a GREAT story, that goes without saying :> It makes me incredibly sad, that I have finished it now but there is no doubt that I WILL read the novel, as I have been made aware that it is way more detailed (and shows a crueler of Sibel's, which I am CURIOUS about) The heart-warming ending really pulled at my heart strings... As well as how love was portrayed Having said that, it *was* a bit cliché, that true love was the cure to it all, but at the same time made sense, because the actual curse was misfortune, so it's understandable for love to help It was actually pretty realistic that it didn't exactly break the curse completely, but just gave Sibel the opportunity to control his power willingly. I loved it and I am definitely reading the novel.
