New Sexy Simpleton

Complete | Hwang Mi Ri | 2004 released

So funny.. Though my heart ached towards the last part where Lee Jin let Mijoo go by herself, then being indifferent again when back to the 21st Century.

Can't Lose You

Complete | Wann | 2000 released

Gaon's evil but I liked his devotion for Yooi (except when he kissed Lida who disguised Yooi; even though he knew, he was desperate to kiss Yooi so he still kissed Lida)...

Tail of the Moon

Complete | ueda rinko | 2000 released

I have mixed feelings for this manga. It was sad seeing how Hanzo (let's use this for the lead) changed after Sara's counterfeit wedding plan. He became too strict and even overbearing at times. When he took Usagi out and left her outside the gate after she declared she didn't want to practice anymore, it was disappointing to see how he was too coldhearted to bear leaving her there. I mean, seeing the art, I was just heartbroken. Anyway, Usagi's naivety was annoying at times, especially because she caused a lot of troubles as well. Well, her strong point is that she's a great medicine maker despite being inefficient in ninjutsu. About their love, well, it took time for Hanzo to fall for her, but I wish it was further elaborated. I mean, he was in love with Sara because she was his ideal and even when Sara and Hanzou were back together, he still longed for her. So, anyway, what made him fall for Usagi? Perhaps because she was persistent and she was always vocal about her feelings for him. I mean, even during the race when Goemon kissed her in front of Hanzo, she quickly defended herself. I guess that's when Hanzo really "looked" at Usagi. It was a point where he felt threatened by Goemon, so he finally gave her a chance. For Usagi, well, honestly, the way she fell in love with him was very typical. It was love at first sight. Seeing how handsome/hot he was, she even attempted to escape the marriage to pursue this guy who helped her (Hanzo). It was superficial. Then, what? She went after him despite being treated harshly. It's like she's already convinced that despite being treated harshly, Hanzo's still kind. Well, I liked that about her too. I mean, the time when she was kicked out, she was aware that she was also at fault so she accepted it as Hanzo's kindness to make her realize her mistake. Anyway, Usagi got kissed by different guys (Goemon, Yuki, Ranmaru) but I'm glad Hanzo was mostly indifferent with women so I didn't get my heart broken so much. After all, I wanted a male lead who'd be faithful only to his female lead. I didn't like how Usagi was so dependent on Goemon, though. She was totally insensitive to his feelings. Even towards Yuki. I can't believe she asked him to marry her after seeing the towel she gave him! I mean, if she were to marry someone who cared for her too much, why didn't she pick Goemon, who went more ups and downs for her sake? I just didn't understand her logic. As for the plot, it was honestly quite messy. I mean, at one point, it was about Usagi working her way towards Hanzo as his bride, then it focused on her being a medicine maker, then towards the end, the plot was more of the history about Nobunaga and the others. They felt like side characters to me because I was more interested on the historical figures presented which I started to recognize because of HaruDaite. XD

Idol Shopping

Complete | hwang mi ri | 2008 released

Yandere alert! I dislike Yerim (Nurse) very much as she was the master manipulator of most, if not all tragedies in this story. I'm actually surprised that Gayun didn't deal with her sooner. Of course I'm very bothered about how they couldn't differentiate Song Yi and A Ul when she only changed clothes and pushed back her hair a little bit. Their height difference is noticeable too. How about their voice? Haha. It's kinda ridiculous, really, but anyway.. I thought Gayun will discover SongYi's secret sooner especially because he had a lot of "..." moments while observing A Ul. Urk. But really, it sucks to be popular, eh? This manga made me realize that even more. That there could be people who desperately seek their love to be reciprocated to the point of threatening the other with their own lives. Like, duh. He's not even allowed to live for himself? If he were to take responsibility for the life of one person who threatens to commit suicide if he doesn't go along with her, then what would happen if more people would demand that? Where would that leave him? Poor guy. It's such a burden to be popular. Anyway, unlike other HMR heroines, I can take SongYi more. I mean she at least has really good points unlike the other characters. We can see here how even when she's neglected, she tries hard to be look after herself and even A Ul. She even sacrificed her life to fill in for A Ul while he can't attend the school since their parents care too much about his reputation, too. She's strong. She may have been manipulated by Yerim and may seem so indecisive, but I'm glad that the conflicts aren't as dragged out. For example, when she chose Seryun after his confession as Yerim instructed, she let Gayun go but quickly went after him after thinking it over. It's good that she was able to catch up with Gayun and he accepted her immediately. I'm glad he's actually not a jerk to her. Even when he found out about SongYi. I'm glad he didn't make a fuss about thinking she's doing it for revenge or something. For once, I really liked Gayun, too. Especially when he thought it over and still accepted SongYi after all (suspecting that something happened with Seryun included). Seryun is hard to ignore, though. He's such a sweetie. I hope he gets someone deserving, because he's innocent and sweet.

Want You

late marking. read long time ago, not sure if I'll re-read anytime soon. [translations seem on indefinite hiatus]

Become Habituated To Kiss Manhwa

Ongoing | hwang mi ri | 2008 released

ch 20 // skimmed the raws. as usual, abrupt ending. like, the problem isn't resolved until the last volume then it just suddenly ends as soon as they get back together. (Yeah, it's always like this. After the main couple gets together, they'll break up and won't make up until the last chapter and we'll only be given a few pages of lovey dovey after the conflict, when we should see more progress now that their issue's solved..) Also, as usual.. birth secrets and kidnapping the strong female lead and be rescued by male MC. XD [translations seem to be on indefinite hiatus]

Never Cry

Ongoing | Han Yu-rang | 2005 released

last: vol 6 ch 2 // skimmed raws until vol 13. it was pretty good. i disliked the parts where the fake Sodam appeared and he even kissed her. >_< well, he didn't know. in situations like that, he had to do it because he wanted to hold on to "Sodam" despite feeling that he's falling for Jo Eun even more. What irked me was that he's being reminded of Sodam when he's with Jo Eun, but how come he didn't suspect her or try to like have her DNa tested too since she did it for the fake one? Anyway, it's too bad for Woo Jin/Seok Ho, but he wasn't her choice until the end... ugh.. just thinking about all the fake Sodam's sabotage for Jo Eun makes my blood boil.. and of course, Rak Ho just had to side with him 'coz "Sodam" is his first love and he refuses to believe anyone who opposes her. Btw, when the fake Sodam died, it was heartbreaking to see them blame her for it, especially the sister who scandalized her calling her a criminal, making her think that she's truly unlucky.. Ha... And even when the truth was revealed, they couldn't be together because they both didn't have the courage to face the other, especially Rak Ho, who hurt her too much with the fake Sodam's incident. It's annoying when even Seul Ha interfered, causing more misunderstandings. In the end, Jo Eun had to leave for San Francisco with Woo Jin. She refused his proposal after a year though, saying she really can't be with him because he and Ji Hong (Rak Ho) are related and she's always reminded of him when she sees Woo Jin. Btw, the ending was pretty sweet. So she gets to go to a house filled with her portraits, mostly sneaky ones, even one which was only the day before. Well, this is pretty stalker-ish, but as she said in the last line, "If it would be a stalker like this, I will never cry. Never Cry." She was really touched and it turns out that Rak Ho has been following her until that day when he finally gathered his courage to face her again. Note: Anyway, as for Seok Ho's story, he's actually an illegitimate child. He was taken when he was 9 because the official heir, Woo Jin, died in France. He underwent a plastic surgery to take over Woo Jin's identity. The grandpa promised that his mom and sister (Jo Eun) will be properly compensated and taken care of as long as he remains obedient. Btw, the issue presented in the beginning wasn't clear to me. Like, about the man with sad eyes who named her Jo Eun. So I believe it was said that the kidnapper died but the motive wasn't especially clear. He seemed to know the mother, but I don't think it was particularly mentioned how they were related. I mean, he even called her in the beginning to inform of the kidnapping. Was he a fan or a former lover? Hmm. I think this deserved more explanations since he played a big part on the story. You know, giving her the name and leaving her in the island. Also, what was that in the beginning anyway? Was it just a filler? The one with the heart of steel/heart of kindness stuff..

My Boyfriend Is A Vampire Manhwa

Complete | han yu-rang | 2010 released

Hmm.. not very satisfied, but it was interesting.. Strangely, I was quite fine when Da In kissed a lot of males, especially vampires. Perhaps because thinking that this is supernatural, I shouldn't expect the normal attachments? Anyway, the most memorable parts would be when Kang Hoo's memory was altered. Seriously, I just get hurt every time I remember and think about it. Like, what if it happens to me in real life? Let's say my lover loses his memory and another girl who likes him take advantage of it and make it so that he'll be her lover while saying bad things about me that'll make him hate me... Like, there's no telling if it'd be like in fiction where somewhere within him, he truly feels our connection. There's no telling if he'd remember me. Usually, in fiction, it's made as if as long as the person truly loves the other, they'll remember him/her no matter what... But I can't even cling on that hope because this is reality and we have no real control over things like that. So anyway, just thinking about seeing my lover with another person, him choosing her over me and even hurts me on her command, I can't help but feel my heart in pain. Like, will he ever remember me? Will he ever come back to me? Until when should I wait for him? Should I continue to lurk around him until he remembers me, even when he chases me out? What if, after I decide to move on and let him live in the present, he regains his memories and want me back? What if by that time, I have already found someone else to treasure? Will I really risk my present to continue the past I couldn't? Or will I live in the present but keep wondering in the future, what could've been if I chose the other? Life is short. There's no telling until when we'll live. If I'd only have a few days to live, with whom shall I spend it with? (Okay, I totally got carried away from the story, but this really just stuck with me.)
