Ookdom's manga / #School Life(12)

At the End of the Road

Complete | Haribo | 2016 released

I read a lot of rave reviews about this manga, yet I went in quite skeptic. The story surprised me. This isn't a cute love story... it is much deeper than that. I am glad I ran into this because this is a whole different level of romance. It is about desire and yearning to be with that special someone, even when you don't understand what it is yourself. The story brings in a fantastic concept with a complex storyline to keep you engaged.

Jazz for two

Complete | Clarju | 2000 released

This is one of the best written stories I have read so far. The best dialogues, the delivery perfectly complements the characters and the ongoing plot. These along with good artwork makes this really engaging. It is a simple story, yet the number of times I got goosebumps and teared up are hard to count. All thanks to the powerful dialogues, subliminal life messages and the heartfelt songs mixed into the plot. Its just so natural, relatable yet awakening at the same time.

Back to School

Complete | Oryu | 2019 released

I actually like these kind of ukes, tough but loving on the inside. I loved the artwork (Chiwoo is just yummmm), and the characters Chiwoo and Jihyun (although hes the bad guy). Their characters gelled well with the plot. The story picked up for me after about halfway through, it was quite engaging then on, and I especially like it towards the end. It wasnt rushed and it was a proper conclusion tying into everything that happened with the 3 characters so far. The only thing that bugged me was the character Kyujin. He was a bit too puppy lovey and childish for the setting. I dont mind it, I actually love those, but in this plot and with the other more mature characters, it kind of clashed with the story and what the author was trying to convey. Overall, a great story... and lucky me the side story is already out.

19 Days

Ongoing | Old Xian | 2014 released

Hilarious manga which showcases a group of young boys as they go about their daily lives. they might show a tough shell on the outside, but the funny and cute bromance moments really give this manga a lot of character. The artist does a great job of portraying their expressions, which adds a lot to the comic skit. Its refreshing.

A Shoulder to Cry On

Complete | Dongmul | 2000 released

I had trouble with the story delivery at times, a bit disjointed at certain times, but it did keep me engaged and I am glad I read it till the end. The story is realistic, with some deep rooted issues and trauma that they overcome. There inner struggles and insecurities are relatable and are highlighted beautifully. Love the art style, it really suited the mood. Nice short story, looking forward to more of this author's works in the future.

For Your Love

Ongoing | Park Nodeok | 2017 released

After a break from BL, I am glad I wound up with this one. The story is very cute, this one guy trying to set up two other guys cz he cant stand unrequited love. The dialogues are very well written and natural, and the whole ordeal is just hilarious. I especially love the comments below some of the panels, reflecting the same funny thoughts I have in my head when Im reading this. The artist has done a great job showing their expressions... like really cracks me up in some places :D

Last Paradise

Complete | GAL-BI | 2017 released

Season 1 - Started off very fluff, and I had a little difficulty connecting with the story although it had very nice artwork, but around ch 10, there was a curveball and it drew me in, and took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. I dont wanna spoil anything but there should be more stories like this, and this should be getting more attention. Stuff like this happens in real life too.

Noblesse

Complete | son jae ho,Lee Gwang-Su | 2008 released

I had a hard time understanding the MC's character and intentions at the beginning. But as the story developed, things started to make sense. The story starts of like a little slice of life with action in between, but it grew into major plot lines and mysteries that kept me engaged. The artwork got seriously better. Badass characters, comic ones too and even more badass OP MC, this ones gets better the more you get in to it. So much character development, and each character is perfectly highlighted without being overlooked.

DICE: the cube that changes everything

Story got so much potential, but the way its delivered leaves a lot of room for improvement. Had trouble engaging with the story, and I was basically forcing myself to read it. The art style was so good that I kept on reading hoping for it to get better.

Super Outcast

Complete | : no do hwan | 2000 released

This has nice art, and a cool story but the main attraction are the fights. Someone who actually knows a thing or two about fighting has done these, and its really amazing. A weak to strong story of a school kid with a badass alter ego who wants to take on bullies. A nice read!
