The Ml's past is also heartbreaking. He never hated the mc, but he was disappointed in his actions, especially when he teamed up with his stepmom. He realized that his feelings towards mc was in fact love but it was too late. He lived for 10 years (?) trying to create a miracle and finally got to return to the past.
