Please Don't Eat Me
Strength isn't always measured with a sword. I read this because someone had given it one star and I wanted some bad stories for my list to even it out. No offense to the people marking this as boring but, the fact that she refused to go to the sex district and suffered repeatedly. She knew her fate was to die but she didn't give in and faced the very person who would kill her to change her fate. I find Ertha to be very strong and courageous in a male dominated world. She repeatedly references that the novel was a male 19+ novels. Which tells me most of the women without special abilities are just meant to be pliant maidens. She's doing her best and even raised her siblings and I find that to be incredibly strong. This is a story for mature readers, not because it has sex, but the complexities of a woman who was too shy to even finish reading a novel about sex now has to navigate a man who desires her while surviving the threat of death is quite complex. Again, I am not insulting anyone so please don't take it that way. This is probably a story I would have disliked in my twenties but I really like Ertha and I recommend this for anyone who enjoys a sweet style love story of a woman who is absolutely powerless, surrounded by heavy weight fighters just trying to survive.
