Koimonogatari

Ongoing | Tagura Tohru | 2000 released

Wow. Aside from Given, this shounen ai manga has got to be another top favorite of mine. It's just so well-rounded. The plot and characters are simply laid out so neatly and beautifully. This manga is beautiful in itself. There's nothing more I could say. It's just beautiful in a heartwarmingly content kind of way.

I have two confessions to make: (1) I watch the anime first before reading the manga, and (2) This was my very first BL anime I've ever seen. I've never been a fan of BL. I'm open to queer stuff and people (like, I'm not prejudiced towards them), but I've no interest in them personally. Thing is, it just takes the right kind of encounter to really change one's perspective or preference on things. And this anime was it. It's so beautiful. And I'm saying this as a person who's never gotten into this genre before. It was so beautiful that, even though it was BL, I cried and didn't feel an ounce of uncomfortableness throughout the whole anime. Once I finished the anime, I immediately went to read the manga and BOOM. I'm now so into the BL genre more than the others. Never knew there'd be a whole other world of anime to get into. I'm so thankful for this story. It will always have a special place in my heart.
