Yuu is close with Hatahiko while the latter felt detached because he is a child outside of the remarriage. When his outburst caused his coming out, he left for Tokyo and never went back home. 8 years later, Yuu goes to Tokyo for university in hopes of meeting Hatahiko again. He realized that he had a budding romantic interest for Hatahiko. However, Hatahiko rejects him. In Yuu's attempt to change his mind, he diligently learned housechores and numerous ways to be independent, even looking for a new apartment after freeloading at Hatahiko's house. When Yuu witnessed Hatahiko and his ex, he realizes that maybe Hatahiko simply saw him as a child and tried to give up. Alone with thoughts, Hatahiko realized how much Yuu's smiles and warmth saved him and being away from Yuu made him lonelier.
