Smells Like Green Spirit

Complete | Nagai Saburou | 2011 released

The ending was absolutely wonderful, I love it so much. Reading yaoi isn't just about smexy scenes and romantic gestures, but it's also about discovering oneself and pursuing the path that makes you happy. This story is every bit amazing. The way the topic was introduced slowly that you personally could relate to (I am never a homophobe), about a person's struggles of accepting oneself despite what other people think. The scene was pretty good, living in a rural area where everybody know everybody's business makes it really hard for you to move and be yourself that's why our three precious protagonists dealt with their emotions and feelings differently than what they truly were. It was purely a satisfying read till the end because everyone lives the way they really wanted and they were very happy and it makes me so happy I could actually cry. I just want people to experience happiness and contentment in their lives without holding themselves back and just be proud.

Never Understand

Complete | Bbong | 2013 released

The title really says it all, I could never fully understand these characters. Although it started pretty strongly and ended well that it got me hooked, the build up had too much drama and a lot of misundertadings (you could literally read them yelling "It's a misunderstanding" every time something's wrong *sigh) that I feel like it was just thrown there to give depths. I think the author wants to portray different kinds of love story with these different couples but some are just too much or doesn't really make sense to me. I liked the main couple because in the beginning they really had potential with their different outlooks and all that they had overcome so many obstacles together on how personality tops physical appearances, albeit the story took a weird turn, but it made me happy in the end. Then there's the second couple, the childhood friends which I personally liked more, was a cliche storyline and was quite short to my liking but their relationship was so cute and so sweet that I really, really, really wanted more from them. Then the toxic relationships I find of the ex-president x friend, which was a huge question mark because what was really the context and the ending? I need to see more progress. And lastly, my least favorite storyline was the popular guy x fat guy. I hate how shallow they were as characters. Obviously they are more attracted to physical appearances than what they really felt. Even the archer dude thinks it's better not to tell the blonde dude that he was the fat guy in middle school because he doesn't want to be hated and gets left behind. That was pretty frustrating but whatever. Then there's all these meaningless characters who are just as obsessed with looks and popularity that I can't even be bothered to think about. In the end I just wanted to be Joohee, the awesome, unproblematic and strong president who could really see through your bullshit and has a firm principle on her own. She is the only sensible girl in the entire story and she was so amazing. Her character was very well written that I was so happy she wasn't involved with anyone who could dim her light. Initial thought while reading: The slow burn is killing me!

This was really good that I wish we could get more story behind these boys. Their stories of abuse lead them to believe that they deserve what happened to them, especially Kouhei since he seems to be holding on and hoping for more of the relationship that left him. Although the idea of them, Kouhei and Kei, being together and moving on in each other's arms is great but it lightly touches the surface of what is being in an abusive relationship is about that when Kei assaults Kouhei it's so wrong but it might be the right way to deal with their situation. I'm just glad Kei was written as a strong and understanding character for being able to pick-up and "save" Kouhei from a situation that's likely not gonna happen anymore. I also really want to see the scum ex-bf to get a taste of his own medicine for messing with these two and for being so f-ed up, and definitely not a redeeming factor. I wish it could really be longer and we get to see them fall in love with each other because at the end of chapter 5, Kouhei states that even though what they feel isn't love yet but he hopes it will get there. On a lighter note, those twitter extras were so cuuuuuuuute!!!! Thank you, sensei!

What a read! I was on edge the whole time, holding my breath on what's to come, getting too nervous and anxious. This had a really solid plot that gets you hooked from start to finish. It was pretty unique especially with the dark twist and turns, the psychological aspect of it is like it's playing with your mind too. It makes you think really hard on what could possibly be the ending to this story... to these characters. It was really good - pretty hot and sexy and mysterious till the end. I swear it could go on an on for all I care I would still read it for it's thrill and everything else there is to happen.

What is this heaviness I feel in my heart? Why are my eyes crying hot tears? Somehow, I can't accept the end of this story because it was too painful but I know this is how it's supposed to be. Land lady and Matsuura, please be the happiest of all people, you deserve a world full of light, love and happiness. It was too painful and heartbreaking but I like to think they fulfill their wish to be happy forever. T.T

Stigma

Complete | Marloong | 2000 released

Poignant yet hopeful. Being able to go through all that, sexually assaulted at any times and his dignity being stepped on that it makes him feel like his lower than dirt, and also being racially discriminated while all that is going on. Even at the end when he knew he could have a happy life he thought he doesn't deserve it and might ruin those beautiful people who accepted him. Life sure is tough. But life could also be happy and brings you so many great memories with the people you want to share it with. It kept me on edge while I was reading it because there are times when what I see and read was very hard to swallow and couldn't wrap my head around it. But he managed to believe in those people and was able to stand back up and become hopeful. I think that's what life is about, there will always be a light at the end of the dark tunnel. And there will be good people waiting there to reach your hand.

Hotaru wa Ashita Shinu

Ongoing | Saikawa fuyu | 2019 released

Imagine changing yourself for the person you love and letting them believe your are someone else, and is different inside (physically and figuratively). It like revamping your whole self to a 360 on something you are holding on for. In Nimiya's case, he fell for the easy going Asada and thought the only way for him to notice him, and hopefully fall in love with, is to be the subject of Asada's affection be it a fictional character. The way Nimiya changed was a little sad because it looks like he lost his identity and became someone who wasn't him and being so open and suggestive. Ngl, I really thought it was his true self at first. With his sultry eyes and moves, his pink hair and pierced ear was really hot. But when we learned who his true self was I thought he was more attractive as what he really was to begin with. Lesson is always show your true self to the person you love. But this story was heartbreaking, beautiful and heartwarming.

Hide & Seek

Complete | leepado | 2000 released

I thought it was really good, but I feel like it was missing something or there could have been more to the story. What baffles me was wondering how the grandfather took accountability, and where is the damn jewel! It was so funny how it showed one of the most important scenes in the story only to make it very comedic. When the "vet" was trying to operate on Ray to put the jewel inside his body, but surprise surprise *drum roll* the jewel slipped from his grasp and feel into the sewer, I guess. So fucking hilarious. They went through all the trouble and drama for that damn jewel just to learn it's probably in the deep ocean or somewhere. But anyway, it was a nice story that I wished there could've been more.
