Fukigen Na Mononokean

Complete | wazawa kiri | 2013 released

Now this is a manga I only ever dream about: A perfect blend of Natsume Yuujinchou and D. Gray-man(my two top favorite manga/anime) with it's own original additions to the supernatural and shounen genre. You got your main characters Ashiya Hanae and Abeno Haruitsuki, which are polar opposites but still dependent on one another in many ways. What started out as a purely coincidental, give and take only, involvement, has developed into a beautiful friendship amongst those two. With more give rather than take. (Still, I AM a part time fujoshi, that's why I can't help but ship those two, but that's another story.) Like in NYC, they're humans who can see yokai, and are heavily involved with yokai daily. You would think it would go the shoujo route with the first two volumes of daily yokai-encounters, no plot progression and ambiguous explanations, but it's more to it than it seems. It's more than just heartwarming plot and precious relations, there actually is something underlying shounen content lurking in between the lines. Though for a supernatural, yokai-exorcising shounen, it's pretty bright. With bright characters and bright monsters with relatable, human-like personality. Even the exorcising is spoken brightly of, while exorcising is portrayed much darker in DGM, Fukimono promises a better life in the intricately detailed, but in the same time ambiguous; 'Underworld'. A concept which I can't seem to have encountered more than a few, rare times (Bleach, Beelzebub, Nuranomago?). For all the shounen enthusiasts, please hang on! Though it's not as straightforward as other shonen manga, it's definitely worth a read. The manga makes up for the lack of shonen characteristics in the later volumes. Thinking back Kazawa has been really discreet with hints here and there of the underlying plot since the beginning, but that only adds on to the suspense. Every little detail counts. You'll get your villains and fight scenes, just... keep on reading x] All in all, this manga is a "All-In-1"- package. It has risen to my top manga reads in just a weeks, and now I'm pretty stoked about the second season of the anime :D (This turned out more of an review than a simple comment omg. Just shows ya'll how amazing this manga is ^^)

Adorable and refreshing. We all need a Takuma in our life.

Musubenai Necktie

Complete | tagura tohru | 2000 released

I usually don't read one shots, but come on it's Tagura Tohru, like who could resist reading one of sensei's works?

Ramune no Shalala

Complete | Tagura Tohru | 2000 released

I'm practically torturing myself with these one shots by sensei while waiting for her to come back from her hiatus ( ´•̥̥̥ω•̥̥̥` ), but I can't help it. It's all so beautiful and realistic and everything a perfect shounen ai manga needs to be. Imma just lay in my bed now and be the sap that I am all because of Tagura Tohru-senseis writing and drawings... Def a reread worthy one shot.

Gunjou no Subete

Complete | FURUYA Nagisa | 2000 released

"You are my life." ASDFghjk I DIED (*≧▽≦)ノシ)) On a more serious note (WARNING! SPOILER ALERT).. I loved how the story progressed slowly and gave especially Kai's feelings more depth and his actions meaning. I really sympathized with him. He had been harboring those unrequited feelings for a while and wasn't planning on confessing any time bc of their friendship. Everything up until there was pretty natural and realistic. Ren's character seemed too half-hearted to me. He admitted that he noticed Kai's feelings towards him, but never confronted him about it since he was supposedly too dense or in denial to recognize his own feelings. He only admitted to those feelings when Kai practically had given up on everything. Doesn't that come upon as half hearted to you? Yes, I know such characters are the norm in most shounen ai mangas, but I was kinda expecting something more elaborated from this mangaka. With Kai being such a great and forward character you would expect that Ren would be the same. Like, Number call was definitely something else from the characters to the developmemt start 'til finish. And Gunjou no subete would've been too, had it maintained the same quality until the end. Then again, who am I to complain it was still a great read and still way above your average shounen ai read in this era. I just have to get this out there tho: the confession was pretty cheesy. The cheesiest one I've read the entire year (2018) so far. I was sincerely waiting for one of them to start laughing, but they didn't so it made it even more cheesy. (ノ-_-)ノ・・・~┻┻

Star x Fanboy

Complete | Kim Cheomji | 2000 released

Gahhh I can't wait until season two comes out. This was really adorable and perfectly paced. I've read mangas before with the same type of plot, but all of them were so fast paced and awkward. This however was so brilliantly made and well balanced over all. The author nim is very good at making it all seem natural even for a unrealistic plot like this haha. I'm expecting a drama filled emotional rollercoaster for the next season. Fighting!
