Silver (fujita Kazuko)
Yami No Koe
The stories were original and captivating along with the drawings.
Lovesick Dead
This was a compelling 4-chapter oneshot. It simply grabbed my attention from start till end. My theory about A-Kun (pretty boy) is that he got possessed by the spirit of his half-sibling, the unborn baby as a form of setting the record straight against his father who is to blame for the state his mistress was driven to. Of course, Ryuusuke Fukata got caught in it because of the guilt he was suffering from due to his role in the past incident which is related the the mistress and her unborn child.
Gunjou
I never thought that I was going to read this till the end because the drawing art was bizarre but I got used to it and even came to think of it as something cool. It has a plot which sheds the light in a deep way on unrequited love between women. How much a woman is willing to do in order to have a chance with the woman she has always been in love with? How many sacrifices can she offer and is the person she is doing this for, worthy of them? This manga sheds the light too on how fragile same sex couples can be in the wake of a breakup. It is not easy to start over again and find a new partner; not everyone can face this kind of situations. Gunjou is not the usual yuri stuff. It is much more than that. It is a realistic story with an LGBT theme. You might like it if you're into realistic stories and plots.
17 Sai (KAMATA Youji)
I believe that the evil side was well portrayed. Bad things happen sometimes because of the cowardice that some people harbor as they chose to convince themselves of being "innocent" bystanders. If only Hiroki - or what's-his-name - has kept quiet and let the girl escape. If only he had gathered up the courage to say something, she wouldn't have had to endure what she has gone through. In my opinion, he is more guilty than the other members of the gang because his selfish and pitiful cowardice was a crucial fact in triggering and prolonging her sufferance ; and they all got off the hook easily. Justice was far from being served.
Hotel Harbour View
It is been said that an overdose of beauty can sometimes kill you; I don't know if that is true but what I know for a fact is that the main lady character in this manga, can without any doubt do that. You see, she is a professional executioner, a hitwoman with a pair of legs that she isn't afraid to show. In this manga, you'll follow her in two of her missions to fulfill a contract; for whom? that is the mystery side of this story. Hence, murder and blood are on the menu. This is a hard-boiled series destined for an adult audience.
Fire Candy
The drawing is good but it isn't my cup of tea. It has many components which help turn it into an explosive Molotov cocktail: mad male character, gangsters' rivalry, addiction to drugs, unrequited love, scenes bordering hentai (very explicit graphic content), fidelity to a deceased lover, at least two bisexual male characters (both of them get turned on by blood), same-sex prostitution, violence and gore. I believe that the fact that two of the characters or more are (sexually) turned on by blood, gore and violence is a manifestation of one of the many types of paraphilias; it might be haematophilia, sexual attraction involving blood, but I am not sure about that). Suitable for an adult audience. The ending was rushed and unfulfilling due to its many obscure points. Note: Paraphilias describe the many instances where the sexual arousal occurs in response to objects or stimuli not associated with normal sexual behavior patterns.
