This is set 10 years before the beginning of the other stories and follows RyÅ«ichirō Isaka (the executive director of Marukawa Publishing Company- which publishes Usami Akihikoâ€s works) and his secretary, Kaoru Asahina. The two were playmates when they were young, after RyÅ«ichirō's father took the Asahina's in and employed them. Over the years, RyÅ«ichirō came to love Asahina, but he believes it to be in vain as he is convinced Kaoru is in love with his father. Unbeknownst to Isaka, Asahina harbors feelings for him in return.

Asuka and Yui's relationship is sweet and affectionate, and follows their development from their first sexual fumblings through the normal problems couples have, like trying to find enough time to be together and how to have a relationship that's more than just sex. Asuka's adorable tendency toward overreaction is balanced well by Yui's calm, but Yui is strongly passionate and the seme in the relationship. Both characters have lots of personality and are detailed and likable, which pulls the reader into the interesting, natural storyline.
