worth a re-read but skip chapter 50-63

I keep reading this waiting for someone to become likable, but I'm 45 chapters in and I don't know how much longer I can hang in there. I hate when it feels like the author wants me to take pity on a character who has repeatedly emotionally and physically abused others because they themselves are a victim of abuse. At the end of the day, victim status does not negate culpability for your own actions. I can enjoy an enemies to lovers story, but Cirrus, at least at this point in the story, comes off as deeply self-obsessed, borderline sociopathic, and just overall unlikable to me. Skylar isn't as bad, or at least he's dramatic and selfish in a way that is typical of teenagers, but I feel neutral about his character, rather than really invested. Clearly, based on the score, I'm in the minority, but I don't think this one is for me. (and this is neither here nor there, but the names are just...super corny)
