I watched the movie first since my sister randomly put it on, I wasn't going to watch it but the first few scenes showed Shoko as deaf. I ended up watching it and I cried so much, I really loved the story and I wanted to read the manga to fill some questions I had. Both the movie and the manga are heartwarming and I recommend both
