Midnight Rain (CTK)
This was a great read, we had a nice developed plot, beautiful art style, amazing characters, and nicely placed comedy. I loved the introduction, how the story was paced, and told by both character's pov's, it was well done and I really like this author's writing. The author made it so easy to sympathize with the characters and made it so easy to love the characters and form an attachment to them. The character design and dynamics were so sweet and despite having dark themes without the author did a good job on where they placed comedic relief moments. The art style is also REALLY NICE, I loved the designs and their facial expressions were so well done. Overall this was a really good read and I'd totally recommend.
Ore, Sono Kao Kirai Desu
This was ... interesting. I am not sure how I feel about this because this isn't selfcest but it really does feel like selfcest and for a hot minute I got scared because I thought it WAS incest between brothers but thank goodness it wasn't!!! Overall I actually really enjoyed this because while there were some questionable things (like the underlying selfcest) the plot was entertaining. While this wasn't a heavy themed life lesson story there was a concept that I feel like most people can resonate within the manga that I enjoyed reading. I also liked watching everything unfold, like watching the changes in the main characters' relationship, seeing the main characters' past "flings" pop up and introduce themselves, and seeing why the main character acts the way he acts. And the ART!!! This art style is amazing and so unique, most BL manga has very similar and distinct features that overlap with each other, and while this one did contain that "essence" it had its own unique qualities (like a cartoonish feel, but also very distinct facial features). Overall I did enjoy this though some things were a bit questionable.
Sensei, Mou Dame Desu
One of my absolute favorite authors back at it again with another amazing story!!! This is definitely one of my favorites released by them, there is just something about their writing that really hits different. I love when authors take secondary characters and give them their own story they deserve and honestly I think I loved this one more than the "original", Akihabara Fall In Love. The overall concept is really entertaining and while the concept of manga about manga artists isn't anything new, the way Chiaki presented this and wrote the story is very unique and so well done. Despite the story revolving around the premise of sex and comedy, the way Chiaki put in an underlying theme about how love can be perceived through the characters and their interactions was amazing. The art is also top tier, we have great character designs, panels, and their facial expressions are on point, while great stories will always be great stories, amazing art styles just makes them a HUNDRED times better. Overall this was such a good manga and I would highly recommend this to ANY BL reader (this is a must-read)
Haikyu!! Dj - The Coward's Red String
I had absolutely NO IDEA people shipped these two but I am not mad and this was actually super cute.
Rakka Ryuusui no Hoshi
I had no idea this was by the same author who also wrote Golden Sparkle but this was so adorable despite the beginning being a little angsty and "dark". This wasn't a bad read, I enjoyed the plot it was interesting and pretty entertaining for the most part. I think the only thing that bothered me was the progression, while the "romance" itself may not have been rushed (going by BL standards), but I felt like the conflict was solved too quickly. The second mc just stopped doing what he wasn't supposed to do almost immediately and I felt that that aspect was rushed, the initial conflict was solved too quickly (but that's just me being picky). Overall this was a good read and I really liked the dynamic between the main characters, their interactions were so sweet, and also I HAVE to mention the art because this author is serving like ALWAYS with their amazing character designs and great facial expressions.
Dream Land (YOSHIDA Yuuko)
I really liked the overall concept of this manga, I really think the dialogue was written beautifully and really helped showcase the overall theme. There is just something within the storytelling about this particular author's works that stand out compared to other manga. I really liked how despite the main story showing a part of the porn industry, the whole manga didn't build the main characters' relationship just off of sex. I also really love the art, because this author's art-style is so unique and beautiful. I love how they draw their proportions and facial expressions, it just makes the story 100x better. Tbh I was about to give this manga 5 stars (which is a big deal for me) but ended up deciding against it due to the ending, I agree with parts of the comment section. The author needed a way to create a conflict but I think using the ex-girlfriend in the way the author did wasn't the best plot-wise. It felt rushed and even then the whole conflict wasn't resolved, the main characters reconciliation was too quick and easy, I wish the author built more onto the conflict and time skip. Overall I really did enjoy reading this though, I felt like I didn't have to force myself to finish it because I was generally interested in the story.
Tsunagaru Koi
I don't normally read one-shots but this was pretty sweet, I enjoyed it.
Dead White
Despite me still not knowing what exactly happened in the end even though I read this almost 10 times, I have to say this was so beautiful for a one-shot. I loved the dialogue and art, and though I would love more context for EVERYTHING, this was very well done.
A Wisdom Tooth
This wasn't bad ... really I did enjoy this, however, I think the sudden reveal that they knew each other in the past and factoring in the age gap caught me off guard and made me rethink a lot of things haha. The overall concept wasn't bad it was entertaining, and I loved the art but this just isn't my cup of tea. I think the end was what tripped me up. However, I applaud the author for writing this because I heard how sad their previous work was ( that I still need to read whoops) and the ending for this one was super sweet!!!
