Neil is an orphan attending a private school on a scholarship as a top student. He was raised in many different foster homes, which he now has trauma from. Dustin is the son of a rich CEO of a tech company. He has abysmal grades and is being cut off from his allowance until his grades improve. He has a bad relationship with his parents and seems to enjoy art. Neil hates Dustin because he is an awful roommate. Dustin’s childhood friend, Giselle, asks him to look after her baby (Phoebe or Peach) while she goes to rehab after a failed marriage. Neil is very reluctant but agrees when he hears Giselle plans to put Peach in a foster home. Together, they take care of her, with Neil doing most of the work and sacrificing his school time. Dustin feels very guilty and wants to better himself. Dustin’s father offers Neil a paid internship at his company once he graduates and $5000 a month if Neil reports Dustin’s behaviour to him and tutors him (Neil has previously refused Dustin’s mum offering to pay him to tutor Dustin, but he now needs the money for Peach).
