Do not listen to other reviews! The story is has so much depth to it and reducing it down to typical yaoi trope “seme evil for cheating” does a huge disservice to the reading experience. This is a story for a mature crowd. Not just in the content but in the themes and concepts it explores. It expects you to be able to navigate the emotions that come with betrayal, longing, despair with a level of nuance and understanding. If you don’t think you can do that then I suggest keeping this shelved until your ready.
Not complete but so far so fantastic. A unique story that is chockfull of gorgeous art, intriguing characters, and complex emotions. I really dig how it uses an apocalypse story to explore a variety of themes from queerness to complicated adult relationships to our relationship with life itself. You can help but root for the characters and hope that, despite the odds, there will be a happy ending.
Let’s all hope Masumi is right.
UPDATE: I was looking through my old reviews and remembered that I completed this and never gave an update. So here it is!
I truly love this overall story and it’s something I’ll be recommending every chance I get. I will say the score changed from a 10/10 to a 9.5/10 for me due to the ending feeling a little underwhelming. Just a little. I stand by what I said before. If you get mad at them getting together in the end you weren’t paying attention to the narrative (in that same note it wouldn’t have been terrible if they didn’t get back together).
Small irrelevant complaint (nothing to do with the story) like I said I was going over some of my reviews (it’s been a while since I did a proper one) and somehow this manga had a lower score than Exotic Love. Just insane to me that people rage at this but uplift and gush over a relationship between two of the most toxic individuals in manga history. I will never understand other mangago users
