Special A

Complete | Minami Maki | 2007 released

FAVORITE ROMANCE MANGA!!!!! Kei is just the best! I can't think of any character I've seen that loves anyone as much as Kei loves Hikari. It's so sweet. Despite having a very indifferent and calm attitude most of the time, when it has anything to do with Hikari, he shows lots of emotions: Happy, embarressed, flustered, angery, lonely, sad, worry, anxiety. He: loved her unrequitedly for many years (elementary-high school) doesn't want her to be afraid of him (doing stuff like making sure he's not alone with her when she's vulnerable because his feelings are so strong) tries to hide his jelousy so she doesn't feel responsible/so he doesn't scare her always protects her (he agreed to leave Japan just so his granpa would leave her alone) would do anything for her (worked really hard so he could stay with her) wants her to ask things of him

So cuuuuuute!! I really loved this manga. Seme was ADORABLE when he was a kid. He was so cute with the uke. How he blushed, got jealous/possessive, couldn't sleep next to him, got SUPER protective when he was in danger, worried about him. Gaaaah! He was just so cool! I'm so glad his personality didn't drastically change when he got older like in some other cases, like becoming really stoic or TOO mature. After the time-skip, you could still tell he was that same sweet kid who wanted the uke to see him as a man. And I LOVED how the seme didn't try to rape the uke upon their reunion. I feel like that happens too much in yaoi. This was WAY better: "I've always been in love with you.....I'm definitely going to make you fall for me." As it should be! And I loved, LOVED how it was revealed that he remained faithful to the uke for 4 years, despite being really good looking and most likely popular (and them not being in an actual relationship yet). He could've totally fooled around (and a lot of seme's would've) but he didn't! "I'm 100% devoted...to YOU." Taira might be my Ultimate Golden Seme!!! I really liked the uke, too. He was cute, goofy, but still had a certain air of maturity about him. He didn't immediately let the seme "push him around", for a lack of better words. I feel like the uke will still be the more mature one in the relationship, which I'm happy about. Sometimes in yaoi they make the younger seme more mature than the older uke and I don't always like that. 3 things I didn't love, but they didn't change my feelings about the manga too much: 1.) In the last chapter, the sex scene felt a bit rushed (as in they did it too soon) and ALMOST ended up looking kinda like rape. The uke was mostly compliant in the beginning and fully consented before they actually went all the way. Still, I would've preferred it happen a little differently, but oh well. 2.) While the whole incest thing was a little weird, I guess it could've been worse. I mean, better uncle/nephew, than father/son, or brother/brother. I think those last 2 pairings would definitely creep me out. I don't think I'm really into that stuff. This is my first incest manga. So yeah, it might've been better if they weren't related by blood...on the other hand, I can see the allure of forbidden love. It did make it a bit more exciting. Hmm, I guess the jury is still out when it comes to LIGHT incest. I think siblings or a parent would really bother me, though. But step or adopted I've always been pretty okay with. 3.) I wished it had more chapters. I think the "getting together" could've dragged out more, just for realism and some more cute drama. The uke seemed to switch over too quick, even though that itself took like 3 chapters in this 4 chapter manga. But it felt like the uke's feelings needed more development, it almost didn't feel completely genuine or at least not on the same level as the seme's feelings. The longer it would take, would make it that much sweeter and feel more real. And then I would've liked to see them dealing with their relationship. Seriously, I think this could've been at least a 20 chapter manga, if not more. There's so much to work with and the couple is just so freakin' cute!!! All in all, this was a sweet story that made me laugh. And swoon from all the adorably cute moments. Will definitely read again sometime. And I'll be checking out this author's other stuff. It was so good. Sweetest-Seme List Favorite Uke List 1st? Reread: April 2020 So cuuuuuute!! I really loved this manga.

Living With Him

Complete | miyata toworu | 2000 released

Haaaah, that was so beautiful. Seme's been in unrequited love with Uke since they were kids, never got serious with any past girlfriends(wouldn't even touch them), never tried to take advantage of Uke, wouldn't intentionally make him jealous, was protective, kind, got angry(which was rare) at someone for making Uke cry...seriously, what is this WHOLESOMENESS?!?! He cried when Uke finally returned his feelings and I felt like that was so fitting. I cried, too. So...perfect. Was not expecting this. I wasn't even that upset there wasn't any s**. It was THAT GOOD. Definitely liked the Seme in that role; wouldn't have liked it if the Uke was the one with the unrequited love. Personal preference. And I LOVED that there was no complicated drama, painful misunderstandings, or refusal to communicate. It was actually really light and fluffy.
