ReviewRaptor's manga / #wtf just happened?(289)

Okay, this is...oh boy. Where to start. The artwork is not consistent at all and at times feels like other drawings were used as reference even (better anatomy, more dynamic poses than usual, etc.), tho I can forgive this easily since this is clearly an amateur work. The art is forgivable tho with it's inconsistency, it seems to get a bit more steady as things progress (I think anyway?). The story itself is interesting but...holy shit does the pacing ruin this comic. Not only are you just thrown into this without anything being explained entirely/in the basics, the plot is basically only made of one hectic happening after another and another and another...while the before given mysteries or unexplained parts are simply discarded or forgotten by the author. Neither the viewer nor the character knows what the actual fuck is going on but the story still progresses and seems to pretend that there is sufficent basis for that? It's just confusing. And not in a forgivable way. It's just a chore to read at this point (chapter 18 for me). If the pacing was WAY slower and let some things settle and explain at least the basics properly before moving onto the next drama, this would be something I'd keep reading. Not for the female lead tho (she's not as interesting as she could be, even with her tragic back story she seems blant and boring many times), the Emperor and other minor side characters are interesting...but not interesting enough to endure the confusion. I think this might be a good learning experience if the author listens to critique, but it doesn't get a pasing grade from me. Hence I'mma drop it. I might check back when it's finished, just to see what the Emperor is up to, but it's not worth a serious read for me.

The logic of this author is all over the goddamn place. Feels like they couldn't decided, settle and think things through but just went with it anyway. The age gap is only a big deal for me if they actually get...flirty before she's anywhere near a somewhat adult. But then again this seems to be a medieval-type setting, so based on THAT their age gap is literally perfectly fine (because that wasn't a problem for people back in the day...weird ass mofos). Since the logic is all over the place I'm really not interested in this. The art is lovely but neither the characters' personalities nor the story itself are all too interesing for me. I'm already damaged enough from that shitty Omegaverse bs, so if it wasn't for the 'being forced to stay and play fiancee' I might have been interest but, yeah no. Enjoy to however likes it. I'mma head out. :v

The story did seem really interesting even if it was just yet another re-chewed version of the same old base plot, but considering how bad the writing is I'll pass on this one. I don't think it's a translation error that makes this seem so weird, but 2 chapters in and it still feels like a rough recap or confusing promo story in which major bits and pieces are missing. It could be that the translation team missed to submit these 2 chapters as a promo chapter (which would explain all issues, sorta) but since it doesn't seem to be the case I'm quite disappointed. Tho if anyone knows for sure that the first 2 chapters are just a mistitled promo, DO tell and I'll give this another go some other time. Anyways. Since I'm not into that kinda choppy flow of stories I'll pass on this one. Sadly nothing I can recommend if this is how the writing level will continue.
