Risky Vice

Ongoing | Jerriman | 2022 released

The baseplot is VERY nice but the execition is really lackluster and feels rushed AND random at times. As so often: Like a rought draft of different moments the author thought of and liked and somewhat tried to string into a story. It's a bit disappointing to say the least. Especially since I love these kinda plots (mafia boss X rando from the streets). Such a shame. I like the art and baseplot, really, but this is more of a page-flipper to jack off to than a cohesive, intruiging story that's well thought through. I'll read the ending when it's finished, just to see what kinda ending the author has planned for these two (the opening scene is making me think this'll be bs but oh well). Hopefully the future works of this person will be better. There IS potential after all.

Yoake no Uta

Ongoing | Yuno Ichika | 2000 released

First things first: The art is impressive in every way, tho the story is equally so despite being quite weird and having a few plotholes here and there. The art gives me vibes from other, older authors out there and even a Ghibli moment at one time. Which I found really lovely~ As for the critique aspect, since there are faults I find: It does not seem to be a translation issue, but! There is a writing issue for sure. The pages/chapters feel VERY jumbled up. But not just single pages being randomized (seemingly), even on one page the author makes odd choices for random scene switches. This is very confusing at times and throws me off immensely. I find it very hard to tell at this point if there is issues with the uploading as well, since somtimes it even feels like pages could be missing? Since info is revealed in the plot but there wasn't a page/panel i can remember it being mentioned as a fact the characters know of already. So, atop of the authors odd scene skipping, we might also have jumbled AND missing pages. Which honestly makes me sad since the story IS very intriguing and has me hooked but the jumbled and weird pages make me think this is better off not being read unless new uploads come along. If this wasn't such a consistent issue, I'd not be bothered, but this throws me off the rhythm while reading multiple times each chapter almost. And that's very unpleasant. :/ As I said, the translations from the officials are perfectly fine, but I heavily suspect the author has weird scene switching habits AND there might be jumbled pages all over. So 'viewer discretion is advized' and all that jazz. (Maybe reading the official offficial source material would be a better choice for this one. Not sure.)

Crazy about me

Ongoing | Snap Studio | 2000 released

Who of us would actually ever be interested in someone that whores around directly in front of us, trying to trigger any response and then tries to persue us? I for one would loose all interest in the person tbh. I get screwing around, but if you try this bs with me, I'm out. Hence why I have zero interest in reading this. It's not logical behavior and will likely only be turned into a 'love story' with a giant doze of manga magicks. No thanks. ^^

The Man Next Door

Complete | Poong | 2022 released

I am sorry, understanding/sympathy/empathy only goes so far. I understand being bored of living the same routine, but if you think and I quote the mofo here basically "my partner's thoughtful words are annoying me", then YOU are the fucking problem dude. Go get therapy if you think your love partner needs to be your personal entertainment box. I really REALLY hoped the author would make a chapter where the MC rubs it into this pricks face that he is now happy with a good partner that actually loves him. I would have SO loved that. Also: That douchebag does not deserve even one of those cute guys he bonked. Especially that red-haired beauty.

The King of Home Cooking

Complete | Gawee | 2000 released

Review/Critique, so be warned. This works as a self-insert very well, but NOT if you're not exactly into the type of person the love interest here is and NOT if you cannot relate exactly to the MC. From the very start the story is weird and feels like emotions and thoughts do not come across well. As well as general intentions of anyone in this story. The MC is a bit of a weirdo but quite bland and simple. Yet the love interest is so weirdly random seemingly that it would have greatly benefitted him if the author hinted more at HIS side of emotions and intentions. Because, to me, first it felt like he was SUPER pissed that the MC wanted to use 'playing gay' as a means to win the show because he finds it offensive to use gayness as a gimmick. Yet, it turns out, he had been given a wishy-washy tsundere personality and he was into the MC. If it was portrayed differently, this might have worked okay but as it was done here, it just seems random. Almost like the author had no set script or really thought about the story much. It's funny for sure but the romance between them is just 'off' and feels randomly done just for the sake of getting them together SOMEHOW, by any means to get to the author's preferred part. I also find the love interest VERY unappealing in terms of personality tbh, but I'm sure someone will like a cranky jerk that thinks he can get upset about playing house and realizing it's not reality. XD It's probably a decent read for beginners but not for seasoned readers, but even there I'd not recommend it because it's honestly not that well written as a romance. As a comedy piece, sure, it's worth flipping the pages. But I'd not recommend it as a romance comic to anyone that asked me for recs. Sadly. Because, as someone below said: The premise IS very interesting. The execution is just badly done.

Monday'saviour

Ongoing | wageul | 2019 released

Okay so I started reading this but for some reason the writing just doesn't make the story intriguing. The characters also feel very bland somehow. I also have a hard time finding ANY appealing quality in the 'love interest' of the MC. Not a very good combo for a comic in my opinion. Which is a shame since I'm running out of stuff to read while updates take ages to roll in. XD

The Villains’ Favorite Is Me

Ongoing | Sanha, yunon | 2022 released

This has more faults than a somewhat shitty translation work. There are random af decisions from characters that hardly make any sense, RANDOM AF scene changes where they should NOT be and the writing (what I CAN judge anyway) is really just lackluster and uninteresting. Neither the characters nor the story are interesting. We have seen this multiple times already but this lacks making even the MC interesting. So I'd honestly not recommend this.
