Tears on a Withered Flower

Ongoing | | 2022 released

VERY LIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD of literally ONE plotpojnt/happening, you have been warned. After reading the current chapters in one go (23 chapter so far), I have to say I am absolutely in love. The story is just a great read and EXACTLY the type of writing I wish for when I see all those top level korean artists doing a comic adaptation. Which we rarely ever do get tho. This writing is the one taking the golden crown among all the thing's I've read so far. But mind you I say this as an adult. Most people on here or other websites are likely younger, less interested in realistic and mature writing. So it might not be great for those that are looking for idealized love stories with just a bit of telenovela drama thrown in to elongate it. The writing of this story is absolutely amazing. Each character has depth to them, rhyme and reason, a non-cliche personality that doesn't lead to utterly predictable situations/reactions and their actions are all based in realistic logic, choices, etc.. Which is really making this an emotional rollercoaster. One scene especially had me going through SO many emotions (the time husband tried to get frisky and dropped the child issue), it was just impressive how quick things went into at least 4 different directions in the span of barely a minute while reading. This author has a VERY amazing way of writing. Extraordinarily realistic. And not shying away from showing the unpleasant sides of human relationships, but NOT in an overly dramatized way. And to top it all off: They manage to even make the villain(s) seem relatable, logical or even likable at times without you noticing that's what they are aiming for. The husband has had many such moments in these 23 chapters already, throwing me back and forth in hating him and understanding and even pitying him because his behavior is not just rooted in malice alone. Just before the author throws a curveball again by saying: Nuh-uh. :D The only negative point to mention (so far) is the wonkyness of the art. The art is decent but has quite a few flaws that are obvious, tho you get used to them and can shrug them off as 'artstyle' basically. And that is really the ONLY thing in the negative department I can mention, so far I have not found any issues. Which is a shocking first for me I think? XD I'll stalk this story SO hard from now on. And I am very much hoping we get an awkward encounter with Mister Chairman (the father) rather soon. I am so curious about him.

The Seduction of the Deep Sleeper

Complete | Suzushiro | 2022 released

Here is the SPOILERLESS part, to sum it up for you and give you some basic ideas what awaits (spoiler parts after this little snippet): All in all this story is the perfect rollercoaster of sad/emotional, hot & steamy, funny and wholesome. A story about the bad in people, the good in people and the potential to change in a long or even short time based on individual circumstances, thoughts, emotions, etc.. On all fronts, this story did not disappoint. And I HIGHLY recommend you read it if you are looking for a more realistic and not dramatized romance story. Now for the spoiler-ish stuff and explainations as to why I like this story so much. The art, great. Barely ever saw anything in terms of anatomy that bothered me. The characters, great. Well written, have depth to them, are likable, pure green flags and they have rhyme and reason to their behavior. Love to see it! The over-all story tho? Basically perfect (so far, chapter 18 felt like the ending tbh but info says ongoing). It's the first time I have seen the estranged-because-angry parent trope be done SO incredibly well AND realistic. But at the same tme, short and precise without too much drama. It was an emotional moment to see them contact the MC and interact with him and his partner. The parents had depth to them, behaviors rooted in reason and character developement unseen in those 10 years apart. I love them so much. The author did VERY well to portray their emotions in just a few panels, even silent ones with just a few expressions. I'm impressed and adore this aspect of the story most of all. <3 Even the mother of the MC's partner, while definitely not the greatest person, she also had her character developement and has been given depth to change her from an aparent villain to someone you are rooting for, hoping she gets her fair share of good times with her son and does better in life. There are minor moments in which I think it could have been better to focus on some details more or adress them outright (the half-nude picture being send from the ex, specifically) but even without, the story still flowed well, the characters communicated and it felt like, for them, there might not have been a need to adress it because they understood each other and knew what was going on. Again, this is just a total gem in terms of writing. Highly recommended for people who are looking for a more realistic and not dramatized romance story. :)
