The Seduction of the Deep Sleeper

Complete | Suzushiro | 2022 released

Here is the SPOILERLESS part, to sum it up for you and give you some basic ideas what awaits (spoiler parts after this little snippet): All in all this story is the perfect rollercoaster of sad/emotional, hot & steamy, funny and wholesome. A story about the bad in people, the good in people and the potential to change in a long or even short time based on individual circumstances, thoughts, emotions, etc.. On all fronts, this story did not disappoint. And I HIGHLY recommend you read it if you are looking for a more realistic and not dramatized romance story. Now for the spoiler-ish stuff and explainations as to why I like this story so much. The art, great. Barely ever saw anything in terms of anatomy that bothered me. The characters, great. Well written, have depth to them, are likable, pure green flags and they have rhyme and reason to their behavior. Love to see it! The over-all story tho? Basically perfect (so far, chapter 18 felt like the ending tbh but info says ongoing). It's the first time I have seen the estranged-because-angry parent trope be done SO incredibly well AND realistic. But at the same tme, short and precise without too much drama. It was an emotional moment to see them contact the MC and interact with him and his partner. The parents had depth to them, behaviors rooted in reason and character developement unseen in those 10 years apart. I love them so much. The author did VERY well to portray their emotions in just a few panels, even silent ones with just a few expressions. I'm impressed and adore this aspect of the story most of all. <3 Even the mother of the MC's partner, while definitely not the greatest person, she also had her character developement and has been given depth to change her from an aparent villain to someone you are rooting for, hoping she gets her fair share of good times with her son and does better in life. There are minor moments in which I think it could have been better to focus on some details more or adress them outright (the half-nude picture being send from the ex, specifically) but even without, the story still flowed well, the characters communicated and it felt like, for them, there might not have been a need to adress it because they understood each other and knew what was going on. Again, this is just a total gem in terms of writing. Highly recommended for people who are looking for a more realistic and not dramatized romance story. :)

Boku wa Kimi to Koi ga Shitai

Ongoing | Kida sattsu | 2022 released

I dare say; This is the perfect yaoi for ALL readers, seasoned AND beginners alike. Seasoned readers can appreciate the very good writing and romance paired with smut. And I would honestly rate this story as a really perfect beginners yaoi with smut that is not too dragged out, for those who got tired of shoujo-ish shounen-ai. This story got it all: - Great art - Perfect writing - Likable character, but each with their own flaw - Dramatization tropes but NOT letting them overstay their welcome at all, they are perfectly utilized here - Great base story with lots of details that are well thought out and not just mashed in, they make the story interesting, realistic and help it flow smoothly while not making things too boring. - Emotional aspects, funny moments, detailed smut and lots of wholesomeness - Life lessons! BL 99% of the time ignores making stories realistic, letting the characters act human and let them figure things out in sweet or hard ways. This story definitely did well to incorporate this by displaying two naive teens figuring themselves out and finding love. In a very precious and realistic way, that I wish MUCH more authors would do. - And especially I need to mention: creative angles/poses during the smut scenes! We get so many 'standard' poses these days that at least 2 of these poses and angles used in this comic felt shockingly new and I have no idea why people do not make use of creativity in that regard much more. It makes things more interesting and impressive to look at. :) I think this is a precious little gem. And the way it's written, I definitely think THIS is the story people should point newcomers to when they want to step away from shounen-ai for the first time. The smut is interesting, detailed but not way too dragged out to make it potentially uncomfortable or weird. All while still having emotions present and being exchanged. Most smut really ignores that these past few years. :'D MUST READ! 10/10 with a personal extra point since I think this author just did such a fabulous job on all fronts. Highly recommended, for newcomers and seasoned readers alike. ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

Realistic, adorable, wholesome, funny and smutty to a good degree (but not too much). Just a really REALLY good one shot. <3

Ore ga Mitsuketa, Konbini no Koi

Complete | Akahachi | 2021 released

This might be one of my new top 3 of all time. A real gem hidden behind a stylized, cartoon-like front. Which is likely why some people wouldn't give it the time of day. This story is just impressive. A lovely mixture of wholesomeness, sad relatable things introverts can relate to or those with depression, innocent romance, friendhsip, but also realism and idealized fantasy. It does such an amazing job at portraying emotional issues and how they feel, how they impact a person at times, big or small. It's a story of changing for the better and finding love after being the best version of yourself. Realizing feelings and working them out in a realistic manner, rather than the fantastical quick solutions we always see in comics nowadays. It just feels relatable, realistic but still strangely idealized in the way characters behave, reason, react, etc.. And this goes for everybody in the story. All characters feel detailed and great, nobody is needlessly portrayed as bad, because it just doesn't have to be like that in real life all the time. And that was a really lovely aspect of it tbh. Everybody was lovable and endearing. No drama, just a sweet path to healing and happiness, friendships and romance. I love that. The art is definitely something people might have issues with, but I guarantee the story is worth reading. Not everything needs incredible art. Going for a stylized cartoon style like this has it's own charm and works well with the soft and sweet story this comic portrays. All in all I think this is a must read. If you are looking for a good story rather than just mindless smut bonking, this is definitely going to be a good read for those that appreciate a realistic story about the characters and their way to betterment and romance. And I would honestly say: THIS is something that they should turn into an anime. It would be so nice to see this in animated form. <3

Kasenjiki RomiJuri Kousou Kyoku

Complete | tobi washio | 2019 released

I'll make it short: wholesome, interesting, cute romance, good art and love the delinquent factor since it brings in some action and more comedy moments. XD A great read, especially since this is a light read and not some deep story attempt. COULD have been a bit longer tho. I would have loved to see more of all these characters. Oh, and the random side(?) couple being a switch was nice. Was like encountering a unicorn. :) Kinda wish it would have been about the delinquent group bosses instead tho. I think they could make a fun couple with exactly that relationship dynamic too. XD

Weekend Citron

Complete | Ikezumi | 2000 released

Both stories are just adorable. All characters are endearing and feel realistic. The pacing could be a tad slower and more detailed but it's a good read regardless because it works well with what it has. Would honestly say this would be worth an anime (not long enough I suppose tho) because this would be such a sweet romance to see animated, I can totally picture the soft, watercolour type shots of them smiling and blushing, surrounded by flowers. Those scenes were just beautiful. Would totally have been worth a full page illustration with lots of details every now and then. <3 Definitely recommended. It's simple and quick but the stories and characters worth experiencing.
