I Am Selling the Main Character's Shares

Ongoing | 목감기 mokgamgi | 2022 released

It's an okay read and maybe a good one if people like this cliche story plotline. But I really REALLY dislike this plot. I'm sick and tired of MCs being dumb and generic when it comes to these stories. The 'husband that went to war so the wife feels estranged and hates him so she wants to leave' trope is ok as is, but it's generally VERY obnoxious and free of healthy reasoning. None of MCs halt their anger or pissy attitude, even AFTER it is revealed that the husband never recieved messages despite sending some himself. The girls never even spare a thought to the other party's side, they NEVER try to figure out who the real one to blame is and they never try to solve the misunderstanding and get back together with their initial partner. I am SO tired of this. Especially since the writing always portrays the husband as a psycho and goes apeshit for no reason and suddenly obsesses over the woman so he can easily be portrayed as a generic 'red flag ML' and the readers are supposed to cheer for any dude that comes along and helps the MC. There is more to the side of the male character, but it is NEVER portrayed well, never explained, never written to feel sympathy/empathy for him, it only focuses a woman who treats her first assumptions as hard facts, gets angry and runs away and never EVER lets up on said anger even after she should if things are revealed. This, generally, makes the GIRL the red flag to be honest. It's obnoxious, unhealthy or even toxic and just really free from any reallife human reasoning (unless you're a dumb cunt of course or a literal/mental child with an immature personality who cannot manage adult thinking). I'll drop this at chapter 8. Not just because of the dumb trope, but also because of the weird and really really dislikable setting of the story. I mean, come on. 'Guide'/Gods playing with people's lifes and killing them if they are not as interesting as others? People having to act like a shitty shoujo MC to get the readers to give them likes to stay alive (which means they do everything for likes, NOT because they like the person they interact with)? FUCK NO. That's just a really shitty and disgusting setup in all ways. That's some of the worst world settings I have ever come across tbh, and I've seen some shit in my 15+ years, mind you! I'm out, enjoy if you don't mind the logic, tropes and setting, but I really do not like it nor would I say it's a good story, much less one i'd recommend.

Divorce Me, Mr. Alpha

Complete | Runa konjiki | 2019 released

The story was at first glance nice, but it quickly went weird in terms of logic and character behavior. It's not interesting enough to read and it's overall just too boring. Neither character is special or overly fleshed out and the art is only so-so. Give it a try but I'm already uninterested at chapter 5. I tried to keep reading but it's just a chore to me. Enjoy if you can, I'll be looking for something better.

Love History Caused by Willful Negligence

Ongoing | Woojootokkang,Ginjyo | 2019 released

WARNING: In-depth critique, lenthy post- You've been warned To be honest, the writing went put the window after the second season. Instead of going with logic, the characters behave VERY weird and at times random. Stupid more often than not. Which completely ruins the story for me. At chapter 59 I am heavily inclined to drop this due to how idiotic the MC finally behaves (he did so before but this was just the peak) and how uncontrollably mental the love interest went seemingly random. It felt as if the author rushed things for whatever reason, or someone entirely different took over writing. To explain, the MC clearly explained (after an obnoxiously long time) that he KNEW the guy wasn't involved with his friends bullying, he simply didn't care about her (which is normal in that situation) and even after his so-called friend treated him absolutely horribly (mental illness does NOT excuse what she did and said), she offed herself and for some magical reason he then went to take revenge on the innocent person he's in love with just to be a doormat to his friend even after she's not around anymore? I'm sorry, but that's the dumbest shit I have seen in a decade of reading probably. Things would have been perfectly fine if he did NOT clearly know, but he did. Which ruins his entire purpose and makes all his actions shitty; turning HIM into the bad person in this story (the male lead is bad in his own ways, but that is disconnected from this issue). And when things finally come out, it's the mentally ill guy who has more reason and logic until he gets random and shoves his dick in him. (I can see that making sense for someone mentally fucked up to his degree, but the writing was VERY lackluster to get there). He became a dislikable villain within moments without it feeling natural for his character. Also, what's up with making the MC tell the truth and then randomly saying 'I did it because I love you'. That makes NO fucking sense. Not based on what he previously monologued about with himself, not based on his intention for doing the things we were told and sure as hell not based on the situation he was in. He did NOT display mental illness like some stalkers that try to kill their object of affection, yet in that moment he suddenly argued like THAT was the case. It's as if the author didn't pay attention to what they wrote or, again, multiple people wrote it and didn't coordinate what they picked for the story. It's nonsensical and weird. The story was good at first and I expected the story to go the course of the MC deciding against outing the male lead and after things get revealed the male lead develops emotions for the MC since he previously mentioned people behaving differently/leaving him when they see his real personality. It would have been THE perfect course to bring things together (bring the characters together), but for some reason the author went the completely different way and fucked things up more than it already was. And in a way that seems not only unlike the characters but also like the author decided to suddenly not go with a happy story but turn things into Harada-esque territory just for shits and giggles. Or worse yet; because they knew "ah, gotta put some smut into this after such a long time, or people will stop reading.". The writing is very unpleasant and bad even in many parts. Not based on the characters being shitty (you can have a good story even with shitty characters), but based on it all not making sense from one moment to another. It breaks immersion, makes the character we should like VERY dislikable and ruins any kind of emotional build-up. If I had to say whether I like it or not, I'd have to say now that I dislike it. Which is sad because I loved the story and how well they portrayed the mental illness of the male lead. But within just a few chapters the whole story fell apart just due to 2 mistakes/flaws in logic and writing. That's sad tbh. I was hoping for another gem that keeps you reading without having to resort to stupid tropes or senseless smut. Waiting ca. 50 to 60 chapters just to get that disappointment is really, well, a disappointment. I'll finish reading what is there and then decide to drop this or not, but as it stands now this is a pretty bad read after season 2 and I wouldn't bother recommending this to anyone. I hope it somehow, magically but still hopefully logically becomes good again, but the flaws won't go away even if it does. So I'm not sure if the author can salvage this....

Saturday's Master

Ongoing | D.od | 2022 released

First of all: Happy reading for those who do not care for a better base plot than "i randomly wanna help you all of a sudden, but you gotta let me fuck you". I honestly cannot stand this kinda weird, random porn logic in plots. XD I TRIED reading this but honestly this just isn't appealing in any way. Even the art is just on an okay level for my standards. But all in all it's the story itself that I have an issue with, not the art. The story tries to go for seriousness with a workplace shennanigans plot, then throws in the most ridiculous porn plot to justify getting the characters into a relationship (literally at random btw), neither character is appealing or interesting and there is literally nothing within the introduction chapters that actually makes me want to keep reading. For me this failed on every front except the grammar or fluent storytelling (little that there is). Which is not enough to keep me here. Tiven the plot is literally just a basic porn plot with wannabe seriousness thrown in to bait you, I really see zero appeal for me here. It could be a nice page flipper for horny moments if people are looking for that, but this is very empty and dry in every way for me. Sadly. This likely depends on personal taste and standards for writing/story setups, so I suppose the usual applies; give it a shot, but I warned you.
