The Bad Ending of The Otome Game
Read up to chapter 19: While the base story is very interesting due to being more on the sad side what with the MC being set on being abandoned by the world setting of the game and just accepting her cast-aside role...this falls apart due to two things: - The comedic panels are so sudden that they feel terribly out of place since the overall tone of the story is more sad or psychological tinted but then BAM cutesy, comedy panel. It just ruins everything regarding any tension or mood that was built up before. It's not a good choice and feels honestly shoehorned because 'other webtoons have it, so this has to have them too!'. - The pacing is all over the place. It's fine at first but as the chapters progress there's just too much tat's quickly rushed over, not explained well or just randomly thrown at you despite there being need for attention on another previously mentioned happening. Other than that: - The characters are VERY basic. You've literally seen all of these characters at least once, exactly as they are here, in another story somewhere. Likely also a reincarnation webtoon, let's be honest. - In a way I have feeling this might be a self insert to some degree. not sure, but it feels that way and would explain the random, desperate interest and behavior change of the male characters. It's not bad but it's not good either. I don't think I'd recommend this to anyone. It seems very forgettable too in many ways...which is disappointing since the base story is interesting.
Final Stop
While the plot is interesting, again, like so often: The execution is very lacking. It's incredibly rushed, it skips scenes that are important and immerse the reader or just bring the characters alive, just so it can quickly go to the screwing around scenes. Good for jack-off material maybe, but this is clearly not trying to be smut but a fully fleshed out story...which it falls short on in every way. The art is decent and the plot interesting, but I'll probably only skim through pages to enjoy the art. It's not worth reading actively, so to speak. As sad as that is. :/
