Mayday mayday mayday!
Okay, so here's my review. Which means critique and such, so be warned. :P The base storyline is great, the characters interesting and the overall plot very nice. Definitely a decent read and maybe good material for people used to smut and that want to try out a mafia story. The art is decent but could use major improvements. Which is generally not a problem for artists of this level. So this is just something I'll note for the 'graphics hoes'. XD I know the seme in this can be a turn off for some people, but those who enjoy a dominant, (in a way) realistic mafia guy who slowly takes what he wants and is accepted in doing so, you should find not much problems liking him. BUT! There are flaws, I will not sugarcoat that. So here are the ones I found. The flaws that are most prominent are probably that the comic doesn't do well in depicting emotions, twists and turns in the story. Characters feel indifferent or too empty in many moments and sometimes the behavior doesn't make any sense and feels random. Or rather like the author had an idea for a single moment, but couldn't quite string it together with the current happenings, hence why some moments felt off or like a weird choice. Not sure if this is due to missing info not being portrayed (as comics based on novels often do) or if the writing itself is the problem. But it's something I'd suggest fixing for sure. Which is hard since this is a thing from start to finish. Another flaw I noticed was that the writing is definitely heavy in tone but the comic makes light of everything. Either this is a failed choice in making this comic a comedy piece that simply doesn't do a good job in making darker moments funny (aka, the rapist guy and basically all interactions with him) OR, which I am more inclined to believe, the author for some reason did not really do a good job incorporating dark themes, wanted dark themes but really couldn't handle making them make sense in the story. Which is also something we often encounter in webtoons. Many authors know drama and trauma sells, but have NO idea how to write it. :'D Due to the constant mis-hits on the comedy/glossing over moments, the story can feel off and weird. It's still a decent read but not the greatest if you are looking for cohesive writing that makes sense. Either way the baseplot is I think still worth a read due to being VERY interesting and intriguing for sure, but I have to say quite a few things need to be done better. To give it more of an 'oomph' factor when situations are arising. The art is part of why this doesn't work too well, but the writing as well. So if both get redone alittle, this could be an amazing work for sure. Tho as it is it still can work for less experienced readers or those not incapable of overlooking issues and still reading to the end. It depends on how strong your desire for things are and if you like the subject of the story I suppose. I would say it's a decent comic but would put it more into the amateur faction of works due to the big, constant flaws we see and the art not being the 'carrier' type. Still like it tho, despite the issues and I would probably suggest reading the novel for this one. If the flaws here were created by the comic creator cutting away bits and pieces, then the novel might be a more cohesive read with emotions being delivered better. But that is just my guess based on past experiences. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ Recommended either way, since I do very much enjoy the baseplot and it has a peaceful ending without another drama arc elongating things. Which is always refreshing to see nowadays. Give it a try, I'd say. (=・ω・=)
I'm Divorced, But I'm a Chaebol
Too much drama that drags too long. It's a nice story but the drag is too much, so I'm dropping this.
Mobsters in Love
Love Level Up
I'll make this very quick unlike usual because I honestly do not have much to say. The art is decent, a bit wonky in terms of consistancy but oh well. Still good. :) The characters might not be everybody's cup of tea (because I am aware people cannot handle ACTUAL mental problems or traumatized characters and their behavior), but I can assure you that both the MC and his lover are pleasant all across the board, nothing toxic or too worrisome. I DO however find their characters a bit too shallow in a way, I wish we would have seen more detail to their personalities, habits, likes/dislikes, quirks and such, that would have made them perfect since it adds more depth. Now, for the only fault I could find; the feel of missing panels. There is a constant issue that broke my immersion because for some reason in almost EVERY chapter, there are moments in which I suspected there be panels missing but I think that is not the case and the author simply didn't do a good job at 'jumping info' with it all being smooth or simply ADDING info that would have cost maybe a panel with max 2 speech bubbles. Again, this issue is a constant throughout the ENTIRE comic. Which was a bit bothersome for me and it kept me from being fully engaged in the story because I had to fill in the missing parts in my mind before reading smoothly again, only to have it rinse and repeat. Often multiple times in a chapter. Definitely something they need to fix in their next work. Considering the second season got dropped, I almost have the suspicion of the author not really being into this story. That would also explain the careless, obvious and annoying mistake of the 'missing panel' feel. But that's just my guess. Either way, the story is pleasant, interesting and so are all characters, but it felt a bit mild altogether. Which is perfectly fine since these kinda stories are nice too once in a while. Not everything needs to be a rollercoaster. XD Anyway, worth a shot, but don't get your hopes up to see Eleven or the big brother get their part since the second season was cancelled. I was really interested in those characters getting their happy part. :/ Recommended as a mild-themed read. Kinda casual slice of life, if you so will. With lotsa smut to make it worth your while. Give it a try and let it simmer.
Blood Link
Super interesting plot with a really handsome seme (really, anyone except the MC is pretty tbh) but there are faults all across the comic tbh. Issues I found: Author/artist isn't good at showing different levels of expression. There is one happy face, one angry face, for ALL the range of said emotions. Not great tbh. :/ And even emotional shifts are not portrayed correctly or in detail. Mc suddenly gets pregnant due to a miracle basically? Barely any reaction himself, from the seme and the expressions are the same as if he had just won a free extra bag of chips. REALLY not a great standard. And this is not the only comic this seems to happen in. Author loves jumping info/skipping stuff and acting like it actually happened/rushing along randomly. Major logic issues and things the author simply ignores. First they can read minds, then all of a sudden that's not a thing anymore unless convenient. (He should have KNOWN about the pills, pregnancy and whatnot.) Where is the logic in worrying about the pregnancy and complications while happily going along with the idea of giving him vampire blood to eat (JUST because he has morning sickness even, how stupid) and entirely ignoring the 'vamp blood is essentially poison' and not giving a shit there if or if not it can affect or harm the baby? There is a lot of logic issues and things that reek of MacGuyver moments. It's not even funny.
For You Who Grieves
Okay, I DO see alot of very bothersome patchy and jumpy decisions in depicting some events and some not and the story would only benefit and be perfect by including more details, but as it is it's still a great read. There are moments I think it was a bad choice to skip some emotional moments (the family dinner for example) or not go into detail more, but overall it's very easy to get emotional when reading. Which actually, for the first time in years, makes me wish this was based on a novel so I could look online where I can purchase the original novel. XD Great art. Great characters and realistic portrayal of problems SO many stories just love to ignore or shrug off. Just impressive in terms of storyboard I gotta say. And it's been years since I came across a story I can say that about. Such a shame this isn't finished, I was really hooked. But it was too nice even at the start to just lay it down and wait.
