Roses and Champagne
5 chapters in and despite the bad translations...it's really the plot I think that's a mess. The MC behaves seemingly randomly at times, some stuff is skipped (minor scenes too but I'm talking entire happenings here, mind you) and all in all it feels more like a rough draft of a story or a recollection of a novel and that's really not enjyoable to read. At this point I'm just gonna keep checking in for the fucking that'll eventually happen, the story itself has lost all interest for me due to the bad writing. The core story IS very interesting but, not with THIS execution. Sadly. It's rare to see mafia settings nowadays, so I was happy at first but that's gone to the void now unfortunately.
The Gangster Baby of the Duke's Family
I don't think it's the translations fault that the story is THIS confusing. New elements get intoduced but only barely explained. Like: WHAM, BAM, DEAL WITH IT. Of course the translation getting worse and worse doesn't help, but from how the comic itself is portraying situations you can tell it's not JUST the translation that's at fault here. It's the people who wrote this and didn't put enough effort into making it coherrent. It reads like a VERY rough storyplot with things happening way too random and like in nightrider, JUST when it's useful...kinda like the author thought of those things in THAT very moment and just thought 'yeah, imma put that in'. Without re-reading how it reads for others and undertsanding it's just way to random. It's just very amateur-ishly written. There wasn't enough time put into making the story coherrent and fleshing things out, which is one of the most important steps when writing a story. It's really a shame, since the very basis WAS super interesting. What with multiple regressors and the strange curse,etc.. But at this point it's just too much of a chore to read. It's not pleasant at all. I really wanted to keep going but it's just made me loose all interest. Maybe someone will make a copycat version of this with more effort (or maybe THIS one is the copycat? idunno). I'm sadly dropping this. Give it a shot but unless you have little to no experience with good writing, this is definitely not a good read.
When I Stopped Being Your Shadow
REVIEW TIME! TL;DR at the end for anyone alergic to more than two sentences. The Good: - The plot might be basic but it's still interesting. It's kept very casual and doesn't want to be some grand, epic story that is filled with big happenings at every corner. The Bad: - The writing is HORRIBLY rushed. The author jumped all intricate details, which makes me thing whoever converted this into a comic doesn't have enough insight in storytelling and hence just left anything out that makes a story intricate and immersive. Which is likely also why the Duke so seemingly randomly and from one moment to the other just BAM falls for the MC. This is not good storytelling tbh. Much too rushed and it makes me loose interest despite the story and characters being nice. - ALSO; THE UPLOADING. Please, PLEASE stop rushing and check if pages are uploaded in order or twice behind one another or even entirely jumbled. The Ugly: - The translation....REALLY needs an overhaul. Nothing is consistent. One moment grammar is perfect and in the next speech bubble it's bad Google Translator shennanigans. Please, for the love of anything ever holy, at least try to check for grammar mistakes and keep names consistent (how tf did Duke Sussex turn into Mr Sechs Kies!?!?!). It's like people don't even want to string together chapters and just half-heartedly throw the raws into google translate and then call it a day and pat themselves on the shoulder. Please put in some effort, and if you lack some stuff it takes to translate things: Just leave it to other people. Because bad translations are often just left laying around instead of being replaced with good ones and that just makes people turn away from a story that's now too much of a chore to read. TL;DR: My overall judgement is: It's nice but I find it unreadable due to the messy pages, bad translations and rushed writing. I'll half-abandon this and only flip through pages from now on to see how it continues for a while, but I'll never recommend this due to all the issues.
