Itoshii, To Iu Koto

Complete | takasaki bosco | 2012 released

This was incredible! I was most impressed by the fact that the uke in all three stories never lost their masculinity. This is most apparent in the first story, but the remaining two also showcase this. The art is exquisite, clean and expressive. The storylines are written beautifully. Though, the third story could have used a little more backstory for the protagonists, it didn't detract so much from the story that it was not enjoyable. Another aspect of this manga that I found interesting was the lack of refusal from the first two uke during the sex scenes (I'll get to the third story in a moment). Usually I find scenes where the uke "goes along willingly" rather dull unless the uke is a "power bottom". In the case of this story, even with the uke's willingness, the sex scenes still felt passionate and as though the seme truly felt uncontrollable desire for his uke. I think the overuse of "No. Don't. Not there." is misleading for young readers and this manga's first two stories appeal to "yaoi rape" haters without sacrificing a passionate sex scene. As for the third story, the reader is dropped into a confusing situation as much as the protagonist is. So, it's stretching it to call it "rape" or even "yaoi rape". There isn't enough backstory to determine that for sure. Overall, this was an amazing manga. I hope to find more from this mangaka.
