Mother's Spirit
5 Edit: Ryou is such a wonderful character. They (and he himself) play him down as a boring every day Joe, with nothing exceptional to recommend him. But he was incredibly brave, following Qalataqa, and choosing to stay in Lutah despite not knowing if he'll ever make it home, so selfless, taking in a complete stranger with next to no notice, and just, really compassionate. I also love that Qalataqa is such an intellectual. He's a visionary and may very well change the fiture of his tribe in a big way. I loved almost all the side characters as well, though Aqnam did get on my nerves. Overall, I though it was unique, the characters were really beautiful inside out, and my only regret is that the Lutah culture was not as fleshed out as I had hoped. They did dwelve a little deeper on specific issues, though, which I enjoyed 5*
Becoming the Librarian’s Pet
Internet too slow, cannot load, will have to come back for the last one some other time. 1: Uke hero worships Ryu, the legendary delinquent, and works to glean every bit of information about him after he disappeared 2 years ago. Bit fucking disappointing, the way the uke glosses over the rape because it was someone he idolised. I don't like stupid ukes, anyway, and this one isn't exactly the brightest crayon in the box. Seme is trash. 3.5 2: Uke is the student council president at a prestigious private high school, but has a secret he is only too happy ro have one of his subordinates discover. This one's a bit more balanced than the forst, tbh. Though, the uke is kinda predatory and gross. But overall all right because seme held his own in some occasions. 4 3: Uke is a foreign exchange student from a tribal nation, who is staying with the Japanese seme. This obsession with the foreign 'other', the sexualisation and invention of strange cultural practices worries me a little, because it doesn't feel quite as benign as 'Mother' did. It was mostly okay, though. I'm so suprised with the way seme and uke roles tuened out. 4 4: Another foreign exchange student from the same tribe, this time the seme wants to learn about the 'dominant husband' culture in Japan and tame it back to his matriarchal society, like, wtf? Couldn't finish because of slow internet.
Raion Gotoki no Kuni Kara
Makoto gets a foreign exchange student staying at his place, and he's a Maasai warrior! Eh. I don't know how faithfully this represents the Maasai people and culture? But it was nice enough as a story. Makoto looks way too young for me, though. And that annoying girl kicking Mako and Luca just standing there watching bugged me. Good on Mako for following through with his dreams, though. This work suits him. 4.5
Mesuiki x Ureoji BL
Tachibana is a capable man in his 40s, with a stable corporate job, who gets seduced by the young son of his old friend (Kouta) Oop! The dad would have to walk in :'D They're really hot together. I quite enjoyed it. 4.7 Edit: Oh. Oh! It's an anthology. 1: Dad's coworker and the university kid who's crazy about him. Short, sweet, hot. Needs way more. 4.7 2: High schooler and freelance engineer. Age gap and gap moe, both. Cute and hot, weirdly enough. 4.5 3: Two dense as fuck yet adorable middleaged ex classmates finally getting it on. Not bittersweet. Just light and fun. 4.4 4: Why are all these old men so adorable??! An overworked and recently divorced man books a massage that ends up being the erotic type of massage and before he knows it, he's hooked! So sexy, squirting and multiple orgasms and everything! Need more. 5: Uni professor and student, relationship feels ambiguous because prof is kinda cold outside of sex. Don't like the power imbalance in this one. 4 8: Two lovers who've gotten back together after a break trying for a dry orgasm Hot and simple. 4.45 9: Super weird and gross story about a tribe that has nursemaid men and where one of them get together with someone they nursed as a child. Super gross, really. 2.5
