Wild Love of Beasts
A strange fic about the lives of various species in captivity, most of them CITES listed. I just found the whole thing to be extremely odd and difficult to get into? It was like reading while high. Or something. I don't know. It wasn't bad. Just, very strange. And maybe just not my cup of tea. The only way I was able to keep going was because of the continuous introduction of new characters. 4.3
Banbi
While this sequel doesn't do any world building or stage setting, I imagine the previous 2 stories would have covered that. So I won't complain too much about that. But Ookuma sure has some nerve, huh! Bragging about Hachi's cooking and mentioning him all the time to a clearly jealous lover. I feel like Bambi's feelings are not being respected. Bambi, too, his feelings seemed to spring out of nowhere. He didn't bug me, though. But Ookuma, on the other hand, was just dislikable in his insensitivity. And don't get me started on the traumatizing bear bj. Nightmare fuel, man. 3 8
Thoroughbred wa Yuruganai
Toshimasa and Shiba's story continues as they try to traverse the prejudices of society against a relationship such as theirs. So damn lovely. I just love their history, the intensity of their relationship, the conviction. They're just so sure, man. It's heady! Loved the extra showing their happily ever after (*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡ 5*, obviously.
Kuro Neko wa Ookami Ouji-sama no Yume o Miru ka
Aoi joins the AV industry to work behind the scenes and meet his ideal prince, Yukio (a porn star). Only, Yukio turns out to be really different from the gentle and charming persona he excudes on screen. I just don't like it? From Aoi's ridiculous insistence on being friends with someone who treats him like shit, to Yukio's apparent belief that his troubles in life gives him the right to be a colossal arse, to the overall setting of the story itself. I hated it. 2.5
Sutei Uizu Guddoboi
This fucking manga. Okay. Shima goes to town to look for Yuki, one of the older beast kids in his village, who was taken away by humans several years ago. Robbed by a passerby and starving, he gets picked up by Yukari, a brothel owner, who, coincidentally is employing Yuki. While it's fucked up that Yukari couldn't conceive of what else to do to help the beast people, and I definitely do NOT like the careless way he treated Shima in the beginning, I still enjoyed the plot. And I really, really liked Shima. And I love how deeply Yukari fell for him. But most of all, I love that all the beast people from the shop moved to the south with them, where (ironically) there's less discrimination. Grudgingly, I give this a 4.8
Hana and the Beast Man
The plot was excellent, but the story ends too early in the fight for change. It drives me up the wall, tbh. 5
Mori no Animal Company
Super weird yet entertaining. Old school yaoi with multiple, connected stories. Some are so half assed and unfinished, though. 3.9?
A Wicked Beast
Read till 31 and just couldn't force myself to go on. The translation is pretty bad and the characters are annoying.
More than a Play Bite
An anthology of connected oneshots about a beastmen-verse. 1: Takumi has always been enamoured with his neighbour, a wolf beastman who is a microbiologist/ professor who works from home. Will the prof. ever see him as anything more than a child? I don't know, he looks so dog like, and he's so much older. It's just not for me. 4 2: Aihachi and Shunsuke, both on the track team, aces from different years, one a retired senior, and one an up-and-coming second year. They use training, food and even sex as means of "stress relief/ goodluck ritual before heats" to dance around each other. Until finally, it culminates in them admitting the truth. I actually really like Aihachi. He seems shallow at first glance, but he's actually really brave, and a great friend. And loyal to a fault. I also liked Shunsuke, who is a bit too tsun, but still one cool dude. And certainly not afraid to go after what he wants once the push comes to shove. This too, was a bit uncomfortable with how animal like Shunsuke was. 4.5 3: Nachi, a quarter lion beastman and Mikuni, a snake who just shed his skin and consequently is attracting a lot of attention. But the only attention he wants is from Nachi, his beloved childhood friend. Will he finally take a hint? I liked Mikuni's innocence a lot, and his determination. I enjoyed it a lot overall. 4.8 4.5: Very small filler about Dr.Mikami, a classmate of the prof., and his assistant and lover. It was cute, and enjoyed how it tied together all the stories of the other couples. 4.5 Overall: 4.45
