How Far Is My Dream Allowed?
Mitsuki barges in to a police station claiming he killed someone before realising he was sleep walking in the midst of a nightmare. He meets the sweet and concerned Seto there, who is worried about Mitsuki's health. It's interesting, but his workplace? It's the fucking worst. The way his situation mirrors mine disturbs me and spurs me on to support him. Wonder where the plot's going. Can't really predict whether it's just a simple love story or the dreams mean something more sinister.
Daehyun Laundry~ We wash everything~
Bisexual dude who enjoys playing the field a bit too much gets transferred to his first posting as a police officer, into the boonies. The only person his age seems to be the laundry shop heir, who despite being plain, catches his attention. Title has nothing to do with the story. He just happens to work there. I personally do not think seme really redeemed himself, he's not the absolute worst either, towards the end, I guess. I just think the uke is so precious and could do so much better. It's kind of a shame? But he's happy, so :/ And the ending was abrupt. Overall, 4.4/5
Can a Gangster Leave the Gang?
Omerta
An inspector with the police department comes to a city to find the truth behind the murder of his brother, only to become involved with the next in line for a major mafia family, and embroiled in a crime network that has it's roots in unexpected places. Interesting, certainly, but also, mafia stories are almost always difficult reads.
Your Devotion is My Salvation
Hell & High Water
It's very good, and draws you in very well, for a story about cops. I loved Dex, he's genuinely such a good person, if a bit of a pain in the ass. Much Jim Kirk energy. The rest of them, including Sloane are also not bad, but their cop bullshit was grating, especially in the beginning. Other than that, superb plot, excellent twist, and truly well paced storytelling. 4.9
Stigmata - Aikon
Had to stop midway and come here because I really wanted to capture the essence of this story right. Asako is a rookie detective who has a strange condition that causes him to experience resentment, pain and the physical wounds of those who are killed wrongfully. While they heal afterwards with medical care, his constitution has left him ostracised all his life. But when his supervisor Kuroiwa's ex-wife is killed, causing Asako to carry her final thoughts around until justice is served, he finds companionship in the unlikely arms of a lonely man. Both characters are so reserved. Makes sense, though, the story is quite a sombre one.The art is very oddly detailed. It's beautiful in a way yaoi rarely is these days. I'm so glad Kurowa is such a kind, responsible man. Asako is just right for this lonely-hearted fella, too. I do feel bad for Mari-san and what never was. But the ending did not feel bittersweet. It was warm. Filling. And I also must say, this story is almost singular amongst BL in this regard; there is no pandering to be had here. No rose-tinted imaginings. Just, life, with a side of parapsychology. 5
