Classic BL Theater
1: The one about Seong Chubhyang, the hottie playboy who is loved by the residents of Namwon Village. Well. Not really about him. More about the uptight governor (Byeon Hakdo) who imprisoned him, and the secret agent playboy (Lee Mingryong) friend of Seong's who comes to rescue Seong by distracting the governor, but instead falls in love with the governor, just like the governor fell in love with him. Small side story about the young man who finally gets Seong to look only at him. It was funny and I enjoyed the sex somewhat, but it's still crack and the art is not exactly to my taste 4.3 5: About prince Pyeonggang and his bet with his dad (the king) to use his knowledge (of BDSM, lol) to make someone into a useful, worthy person. Topping from the bottom kinda situation. Again, fun, but nothing special. 3.8 9: About the prince who is trapped in the castle by his overbearing father and the tailor hired to humiliate him during his coming of age ceremony, to teaxh him a lesson and mend his promiscuous ways. Twist on Emperor's Clothes. Was okay, nothing special, but enjoyed how smart the prince was. Also glad he got out. 3.8 13: Continuation of Ch 1 15: About Snow White, who covets his dead father's paramour, and threatens to bed him. The paramour is regent I the meantime and tries to get Snow white killed many times, in his fear. Some amnesia and life threatening accidents thrown in, for good measure. The whole collection is weird but this was- wowee! 3.2 23: About poor liblnely hook and Peter, who's a bit of a presumptuous dick, who definitely has some growing up to do. Also a London detective with some strong morals, a nosy merman and one smart Darling kid. This one actually made me feel something, the forst in the entire collection to do so. I felt his longing and his long wait mad me sad. Glad things worked out. And so surprised to see consent and pedophilia being addressed. Reluctantly impressed 4.4 27: Little merman, the usual stuff, no major twists. It was okay? Boring and forgettable. 3.5. 32: Spin on Beauty and the Beast, with a slutty Belle. It was really cracky, like full on, some loose ends as well. 3.6 35: A really, really strange and convoluted story about a lumberjack who stole an Asgardian warrior's cloths to sell for food, thus stranding the warrior in Earth for a while. Some bits about a peeping tom were thrown in, and some just, generally really odd plot developments. Man, what was the mangaka smoking?? Loved the ending, though 4 39: About the dragon king who is fed up with the asexual fish surrounding him at the palace of the sea, and sends for the magician on land whom he has seen in Playing Boy magazine, and is enamoured with. Only, the failing magician falls for the kind sea turtle and runs off with him. The king kinda lets them go. The couple steal some things from the treasury and open a magic performing company on land. It was crack, obviously, but not bad. I liked them together. And the turtle sure is smarter than I initially gave him credit. But I wish he hadn't swiped the entire treasury... 4.1 44: About the dragon king and the seemingly disinterested octopus. I don't know about this one. I was most looking forward to this out of the whole collection, but it was really just too short. Very disappointed. Also wish the octopus would be a bit nicer from time to time. Also want him to be jealous sometimes and have him grovel, too. 4.4 46: About warring clans (bear and tiger) who are visited by a meddling sorcerer (?) slimeball, who has an eye on the rep of the bear vlan and wants to humiliate and isolate the rep of the tiger clan (feelings were previously developing between them). This one isnt complete yet but I already can't stand it, because I just finished Rosehaven and there are just too many parallels? From the slimy fair haired villain, to tying the bottom (I think) to a tree to publicly humiliate him. Makes me so angry!! 3 Edit: So the bear came to his rescue at the last minute, but he never even apologised. Next :/ 50: Little red riding hood who is too pretty for his own good had to learn to be strong enough to ward off advances and defend himself. He meets a shy and soft wolf with a hulking figure on his walks one day. It's so bad. The writing is so shit. 2.5
Sonna ni Iu Nara Daiteyaru
Shinobu puts up a shabby disguise at work but is actually a sleek playboy by night. But what happens when his playing grounds are invaded by Hikaru, the annoying "prince" from work? I really liked it. I especially liked that they didn't waste time with bullshit misunderstandings. But I wish Shinobu had taken his disguise off at work, too. Would have been satisfying to see all those aresholes regret their words. That is the only reason I am marking this down. 4.8
