Super Darling is Dead
Yousuke ignores advice from a stranger and ends up in debt from a bad real estate decision, and his fiancee leaves him for her ex. In this pitiful situation, he is taken in by Tao, who is in love with him. Yousuke certainly was too arrogant for me at the beginning but he turned himself around in a matter of days! I honestly really like him a lot. Up to his ears in debt, but never gave up. Put his pride aside to get help from someone much younger than him. Forged head first ahead into a completely new relationship, armed only with faith. And he sure had a damn lot, in Tao, that is! Tao was gentle and capable, I enjoyed his sleeping tiger side that comes out to play once in a while. I don't dislike either his sister or her girlfriend, but I definitely did not like the first impression (though Yousuke was also incredibly rude). I did like the sister more and more, though. And their backstory certainly helps endear them. My major complaint is length, for sure. This needs 10 chapters, at the very least. 5
Gozou Roppu no Koi
Ichirou is in debt, managing the diner his dad left behind. His relationship with the hosts who frequent his place at dawn, especially their leader Seiichi, evolves, as the days pass by. Whoa. This is genuinely so lovely. I really, really like Seiichi a lot, he's so kind and respectful and goddamn generous. How he handled the ex, I wish people in other yaois had the same sharp reflexes and wits. And Ichirou is such a hard worker, even saw the error in his thinking and made an effort to change the way he sees hosts. Seiichi also seemed to have a good support system, would have been nice to have read more about the friends and that owner. Most of all, just wish this was longer and more detailed. 5, easy 5
MODS
Tora joins an escort service as a driver for their top escort Shiro, whose fascade of being dead inside cracks the more they hang out. See. When people like Shigure pass on. The world shatters around the space they leave behind. My heart breaks over and over for poor Haru and Shiro, who were stuck in limbo for so fucking long. Tora is so perfect, so caring, so right for someone as damaged and needing tender care as Shiro. I thoroughly enjoyed them and hated all the shitty clients at the same time. Odd mix of feelings to occur at the same time, that. Here's to incredible semes, lovely neighbours and finally moving on. 5
My Little Inferno
I. Okay. Hitoshi bumps into a yakuza looking guy who pops out from the trunk of a car the middle of the night. Bullied into taking him home to hide him for a while, Hitoshi has no idea how his life is about to be thrown into upheaval. Mah definitely has something loose up there. He cares about Hitoshi dearly, obviously, but that rape scene was frankly horrifying. And his reactions to so many things are just, off. Hitoshi, I sympathized with him and his mom so much, and my heart still hurts for them. I wish Hitoshi had taken everyone's advice and retaken the exam. I wish his bullies would get justice served to them. This feels unfulfilling. And yet, because of the brilliant plot, and intriguing story telling, I give this a 4.45
A first love that costs 860,000 yen
Um. Masamichi (Mari) spills coffee on Satou, a super model who insists that Mari let him live at his place if he can't foot the bill for a new 860,000 yen (!!) coat. Whyyy did he make him agree to live together though?! What's the deal with the relationship between Satou and his mum? Will Mari ever find out the truth about his own parents? It was cute and all, but too many loose ends! 4.4
Pearl Boy
You know what. I thought I was ready, but I was wrong. I can't read this without an ending. It's just too damn awful. Ch 28
Nanshoku Injou Hitsugi
Just porn, really, about a rich man who runs a brothel, maybe (?), one of his charges whk has yet to get started with paying off his family's debt, and an artist who is charged with creating paintings of the charge's trainings. Just porn, but hints at a really interesting plot. Hence, 4.6
Limited Run
Really good! And especially given the evolution the plot went through, based on author's notes. While I do think that Jae-Hyeok really went about things entirely the wrong way, even though Yeon-oh was wrong to hide the evidence that would ultimately lead to uncovering Jae-Hyeok's mom's murderers, all in all, I think both are more than redeemable. And I especially liked that Yeon-oh actually made him work for forgiveness. And I liked that he is indeed forgivable unlike some arsehole semes in most similar yaoi. And side note on the dad: it's not right, but his death is such a relief because it was the only way for their little family to finally be free of that leech. And I couldn't bring myself to care about the murder of that rapist debt collector piece of shit. I'm sorry, but after ruining countless hundreds of lives, he had it coming. I really did enjoy it overall, despite it being a bit draggy towards the end. 4.8/5
