Zettai, Fukujuu Meirei
Kikuma is a sub who presented early and unwittingly took out his frustrations on his baseball club supervisor. Even though he was the one who got hurt in the ensuing fight, he was expelled from the club and as a result, became even more argumentative and labelled as a delinquent by his classmates, none of whom have presented. But when he gets shifted to Takasumi, the doorm leader's room, Kikuma realizes a number of things about himself and his dynamic. This one, while it ended well, leaves a sour taste in my mouth. That was definitely dynamic abuse, for sure. Making someone submit against their will. Giving them a command the first time you met, without any consent or anything. Even if he did it to help Kikuma. It definitely doesn't sit right with me. It was still a good story. I just wish they had started out better? 4.45
Shasei Kanri Dou Deshou
It is cruel for this to be a oneshot. And also, how is he so perfect? A super sadist who gets really into it during play but the sweetest, most considerate lover outside of it. Gosh. I want one, please?!!
Ideal Assets
Seme used to worn at a BDSM club before landing his corporate job. At his new workplace, his supervisor is mean spirited, over works them and steals credit. Seme, frustrated with the situation, goes to his old club to vent. When he takes one client to blow off some steam, he ends up in a room with his apparently masochistic boss?! Hot, but troubling. The boss is such a bad boss, leaving his subordinates to work like that while he slacks off at a brothel. And the seme's also having sex with the boss essentially under false pretenses? Well. Kind of. Maybe not really. Any way, interesting and hot, but also troubling.
Seifukusha
Vile, ugly and disturbing. 1: Politician and his secretary, whom he abuses and sells to his fellow politicians from time to time. The secretary thinks he's "gentle". Genuinely, I feel bile rising up. 1 2: Lovers who play a risky game of exhibitionism, with an unaware 3rd party (uke's boss). The boss thinks he is assaulting his unwilling subordinate on a crowded train. What?! Just. No. 1.5
Knock on Wood
Jiho reunites with an old high school friend, Eunchae, while in uni. Eunchae, weird as ever, asks Jiho to hit him with a strange stick (he's a big believer in Shamanism) but they soon find out who likes hitting whom. Quickly falling into a relationship with each other, they were little prepared for the trials and tribulations ahead!! It was obviously good, no denying that. But it was also an uncomfortable read, at times. Triggering, even. While the first half was fun, and the over the top comedic situations refreshing, I was really thrown back by how easily they could break up with each other. And how, even though at that point, they had thought Jiho might have been taken advantage of while blackout drunk, Eunchae treated it more like Jiho was cheating and less like he had been raped by someone he had trusted!! And when Jiho was not enjoying the kinks and still going along with them, it was kinda traumatizing? The mangaka tried to play it off afterwards and it mostly worked, but, ugh. And Hyun was just, such a terrible person, but I still hated his first love more. What an absolute bag of dicks. I'm glad Hyun's getting therapy and I'm glad the boys became strong enough not to let Hyun impact their relationship anymore. Also kinda also bummed we didn't get to see Jiho's results. Still. It was good, really. Just, kinda sad, too. The sort of sadness that creeps up on you. 4.5
Sensual Reminder
Souhei is unable to enjoy sex unless he's tied down. As his sex friend, Lucas is happy to indulge him, yet as a man in love with Souhei, he yearns to set him free. I liked it more than I thought I would. Neither were especially lovable characters but the circumstances and plot endears them to the reader. I loved that Lucas was able to free Souhei from the confines of his trauma, and I liked his mom for being so supportive too. And I'm glad Souhei wasn't dense enough to let such a good thing go. As for his friemd, serves him right. Taking him for granted like that and trying to play God. Hmph. 4.5
Make a Pet Out of a Cactus
Okay, so a salaryman is nailing a flower shop owner, but is also an m and the shop owner likes to tie him up and stuff hecause he's a power bottom. Looks like sex friends situation becoming something more. I enjoyed the atypical dynamics, but found it to be boring, overall. Especially since we don't really get to know them. It's just one session of sex. 4.3
Playing Brothers: Bossy and Undefiled
After their parents who had remarried an year ago passed away, step siblings Hisaki and Yuzuru are left alone to pick up the pieces. Hisaki quits university and earnestly starts to look after Yuzuru, but finds himself developing feelings for Yuzuru, that are not familial in any form. It's just uber creepy for Hisaki to have those feelings towards his younger step sibling, but at least he was handling it well. And, well his selflessness endears me to him. Yuzuru, on the other hand? Nothing's gonna excuse the rape nor the way he treated him after. I'm glad, though, that Hisaki gets another opportunity at finishing university. 3.4
Nitta-kun Chuuihou
When Tamura accidentally runs into Nitta, a delinquent at school, and takes home his bag by mistake, he discovers a secret that he thinks will lead to him getting beaten up within an inch of his life. But Nitta reacts veeeerrryyy differently from what Tamura expected. I think Nitta's got him hooked. But, he's got Nitta hooked, too. Just a bit. It's just, Nitta is the shrewder, of the two. But Tamura isn't exactly missing out, either. It's a relief to read something that even this balanced after the mind fuck that is "We Are All Works In Progress" 4.5
