Hear me out here: In a story with a very strong MC and a very strong Villain, his narrative reduced him to nothing more than a pawn in a game that is theirs. Patrizia and Rosamund pushed this story forward. When you have a MC and a villainess like Patrizia and Rosamund, the ML gotta measure up to that. But he didn't, and he didn't prove himself worthy of being the ML standing by Patrizia's side. . Now, for the long explanation. First, the bad: The very plot of the story required a King that hated the MC bc he loved his Mistress. But that could very easily make people hate him, so the author had to give us a reason for him to be the way he is, one that would explain and excuse his behavior. So she chose trauma. That's a very valid reasons to be the way he is indeed - he was very abused by his mother and it was actually well portrayed how Rosamund took advantage of his traumas and emotional vulnerability to make him emotionally dependant on her. But, as the story progresses, by never being held accountable for his actions because of his trauma, he also lost his autonomy in the story: everything he does is always because of someone else. He fell into the role of just annother pawn in the bigger game, just like the side characters who are allies to either Patrizia or Rosamund. Patrizia and Rosamund are the real players here, and his narrative, created to give him ML relevance, just doesn't fit in organically with the rest of the plot, it's actually cringey how weak his narrative is when compared to Rosamund and Patrizia's. Thus, the novel ended before he could actually make up to Patrizia - tho he was very repentant and well on his way to being a good husband by then. Still, I wish we had seen more, for I am not sure if he just changed the subject of his emotional dependency from Rosamund to Patrizia. . Now, for the good: Rosamund, what a villain! Omg, we all hate Rosamund. I think she's one of the greatest villains because we don't pity or side with her, we loathe her. And her actions are not hollow, she's got a complicated background as well. Get ready: she's gonna do worse. Some sick shit is gonna be revealed and we're gonna hate her even more. But fear not: Our MC won't take it lying down. She's gonna do her worst as well. Patrizia commands the whole fucking story. She is absolutely worthy of being the MC, and of being the fucking ruling queen. Emperor can step down from his duties, bye bye. I think what I absolutely LOVE about her narrative is how she achieves everything by herself. She doesn't get her happy ending by luck or any other plot device, she works for it. She's smart and she's fierce, she gathers allies and she's not above doing some really shady things against Rosamund. Once she gets the upper hand against the villain, Rosamund will be reduced to a pathetic little girl struggling to survive. And failing hard. I was really happy with how Patrizia dealt with Rosamund. She stepped up and plotted heavily to get the proof she needed to get that piece of shit executed. Best fucking revenge scene ever. Also, loved how Rosamund's allies got the chop well. Fucking assholes. As for Petrolina, loved her ending, with a loving husband of her own.

The Guy is toxic, this becomes something like a Yandere story. He first starts to cheat on his fiance with FL (blonde hair girl). He basically becomes obsessed with her, age also screams BIG TIME BAD. He's 18 while FL is 12. He does things to her that she doesn't want to do, (rxpes her, forces her for stuff, and she does not consent.) He's psychotic and doesn't want FL to be anywhere near anyone else but himself. He forcefully keeps FL by him at all times and refuses to let her go anywhere without him. Title and Summary basically explains what you might be getting into. Title : Cry, Even better if you beg. A bit about ML and what you'll see from him and his actions. "He was born to succeed the duke line, as everything in his world was in perfect order as he was admired and respected by the people, even his mother knew that ML became the duke because he decided to, not because he was obliged to. When he met MC though, for the first time in his life, he didn't understand his actions or made sense out of it. His indifferent and cold attitude to those that knew him became sadistic towards MC. He started to bully her when they first met for some reason, then he gradually desired her, made her his mistress, acted like a beast in bed and really really really liked making her cry. He was engaged to Claudine but that was because he viewed marriage like a business proposal, it was only a means to strengthen his family name, he never correlated the concept of marriage with feelings. He planned to put MC in one of his places after his marriage, where he could give her everything she wanted. He sometimes had ideas to make MC the duchess, but it was impossible given how she was a commoner and orphan. When MC ran away, he was still desperate for her but he didn't regret anything he did to her, because he knew it was the only way to have her. Even when he found her again, pregnant with his child; he locked her up and threatened MC that she would take his child if she ran away again, so MC was really bound to him. There was a scene while she was pregnant and sleeping, and the ML whispered "I love you" because he knew he couldn't say it while she was awake because he wanted for her to like him. Actually, he knew from the beginning that MC made him weak, that these were the type of feelings he had for her, but he didn't want to acknowledge it or know any other way to show his feelings. He remembered how his first plan was to kill MC after finding her, but he knew he couldn't do it so he had planned to kill himself instead if he couldn't have her. But seeing her pregnant gave him hope. He tried to let her go after a scene where MC got sick and was almost dying, and there was a bit of character development there. It was still a happy ending, they married and anyone who saw them knew how much the duke was in love and crazy about his wife. Overall, the ML really has no sob back story to justify his craziness or why he acted like trash, he was just crazy from the beginning but i guess that side of him only really awakened when he met MC".
