fucking favourite, brought me to tears many times. As a trans person myself who doesnt have the courage yet to be who i am, this story is eloquent in its portrayal of the realities of trans everyday life. I love it so much. It is real and optimistic in its outlook on individuality and being queer and it doesnt shy away from the anger of it all which i love. Brilliant story, please read it.

Sekai de ichiban toui koi

Complete | ASOU Mitsuaki | 2020 released

the age gap was a bit too much for me but honestly, this completely took me by surprise. The narrative was so desperate and gentle at the same time, i really felt my heart being pulled. It's extremely poetic. When Touka says that the silence in between his conversations with Isuzu make him nervous, as if he cant bear it and needs to know what he has to say. I completely related to it and genuinely felt the shift in Touka. I felt that he was changing. The commentary on Isuzu struggles of being deaf i felt were extremely touching, the author did a brilliant job of highlighting the fear. The idea that his life has to be repetitive, rigid and unchanging just to have some sort of quality and comfort really makes you fearful and depressed. The scene where Isuzu describes his fear of the scene of the fire really highlights this fear of not knowing whats coming. He has to be ready for anything because the thought of him not being able to protect himself really looms over him and i believe it would for anyone. It breaks my heart and touches it at the same time. The scenes where Isuzu cant keep up with conversations and his head is desperately turning to them as he's making such effort just to try and understand them is heartbreaking and that sense of helpless isolation sets that fear in motion even more. I adore his character. I almost wish that there wasnt a romance at all because i think it really holds up on its own. But i do really love the fact that Isuzu has finally found someone who is willing to make an effort to understand him in return. I imagine that the lengths he goes to to keep up with others must be lethargic and tiring beyond belief, the fact that he's praised for trying to accommodate every single person he meets is so bittersweet. But yeah, its really touching and i love it lots. Wasn't expecting it to leave the impact that it did.
