Watashi no Otto wa Reitouko ni Nemutte Iru
honestly it was so interesting but the ending was like... huh? i understand it but it falls flat. like ryo's motivation to pretend to be his twin and be with the mc is necessary to add more depth to the story. like it was obvious from the abuse and cheating that he didn't love her enough, and running away when she killed his twin would've been a realistic move, so why stay? ig he realized his fuck up and love too late, but that would be too contrived of a reason.
December Rain
Jukkakukan no Satsujin
couldn't believe ellery died... he was set up like the main character, but then he also died.... sigh. i have to admit, the trick was brilliant, and the mangaka utilized the advantage of manga format, readers's dismissive attention to details, and a bunch of red herrings to pull the wool over our eyes. the storytelling/panelling is pretty simplistic but the art is really gorgeous. the motive ended up kinda cliche, but the reveal that it was all for nothing made it even more bitter and sad. it'll probably torment him forever.
Gunjou
the artstyle made it hard to get thru at first, but it's delivers raw and intense scenes so well. both of the main characters are so so flawed but it's also hard to hate them. at first, i enjoyed their dynamic, which was bitter toxic woman x woman who seems forgiving and would do anything for her beloved. but it turned out it wasnt like that at all. i mean the black-haired woman is incredibly cold, rude, bitter, stubborn, and selfish, but the woman with unrequited love left her gf of 10 years and threw away her future just to have sex with her. she's so thoughtless, tactless, and stupid, and when shes unable to burden the weight of being a runaway murderer, she lashes out hard. she lived a generally happy life, so she was unable to cope, and admitted herself she didnt have black-haired's strong will.
