Hand Jumper
good plot progression and storytelling, solid power system, fleshed out and complex characters. author def did his/her research. mc can be said to be the most ordinary-looking chara out of all charas, but she has a pretty unique skill, however, while it's not op, she uses her brains to complement the skill's benefit to play the situation to her favor. she's very interesting too- she's not just a simple person who strives for peace and justice. she rejects her family's criminal ways, bc of her past, and follows the rules like an ordinary good person, and works hard for her goal, but the great and ironic thing is, she will go to ruthless lengths to achieve it, making her not so different from her family after all, but still not breaking the rules lol. the worldbuilding is great, the power system "essence" is easy to understand but there are a variety of ways you can utilize it. the charas have a story to tell, and have their motivations, instead of being used as a stupid and cheap foil to mc. srsly, the quality is highhh (and the creator's in college? honestly impressive). btw, did i mention her sister is hot?
Delivery Knight
minus one star for that ending. couldve been better. other charas get no closure
Shadow House
pretty damn interesting, like what is going on in this household??
Summer Time Render
ch 60. "dont underestimate human" hrmm that seems like an awfully misplaced platitude that came out of nowhere. i mean, they were just had this big reveal, the tension was high, mc and ushio tried to counterattack, there was no indication of this theme running in the background... anyhow it felt really random to place this inspiring-sounding platitude in a backdrop of a mystery thriller with creepy monsters.
Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai
honestly, the premise is super interesting, like a kindergartener destroying spectres? seems like a cute yet horror story. the art really makes the spectres eerie and creepy-looking in contrast to the cutely drawn humans, which is nice. the psychic and mc, kaya is cute yet also uncannily cold when killing the spectres, which is great as well. however, the teacher is the worst aspect of this story. not only is she slow, but she's also uninteresting and quite boring. annoying at times too. srsly, she'd be just an inconvenience if kaya happen to be older and not reliant on an adult. she's like "i want to protect you, kaya!" and yet she hangs up on mob when he is about to tell her something important about kaya's family... after he told her about the abnormality in kaya's mom's fetus, which poses an actual potential threat to kaya. like, girl. also, tbh, despite all the aforementioned pros of this manga, it is kinda boring, like the chapters unrelated to the main overarching plot are just filler, and it pretty much ends up kaya kicking spectre's butt. yeah, im much more interested about kaya's bizarre possession, her mom's fetus, and her granny's story.
The Novel’s Extra (2022)
One Hit Teacher, Master Baek
ch 11. the son and father relationship is sweet and wholesome, but it still feels weird since the soul in the body isn't his son at all... but there's none of that conflicting feelings in the mc nor did the father found something strange with him... ch 23. i am enjoying this much more than i thought. the plot doesn't meander or drag, we established mc's goal in the first 10 chapters, the things he does in the city are not meaningless stuff or filler, and then we are introduced to the overarching mystery, and the following events are all tied to the mystery or mc's goal... the mc himself is cheeky, confident and knows when to insert comedy at the right moments, he's strong but not annoying, and he's so fine too... the secondary characters introduced are great too with pleasing but diverse personalities.... this is so good, basically. ch 32. i knew it. even tho namgoog and peng seemed like antagonist, the former even incurring mc's anger, i didnt hate them. and it turns out that they're not bad, maybe their personality sucks, but they're not comically evil. namgoog may not seem like a "good" teacher, withdrawing his outstretched hand from the problem student and giving up on him, but mc admitted that he was like that before, and namgoog is a dedicated instructor so he def have the capacity to change. im happy there are a multitude of complex charas here. ch 57. bro this is so good, the charas are diverse in background and personality, but still are fleshed out. the events have traces of the blood cult's influence, linking it to the overarching conflict, and mc is gradually discovering more. the mc's growth in power is not the focal point here, but it's rather the students he is helping, and it love it 91
