Fuji no Yamai wa Fushi no Yamai
ch8- i think i have read enough chapters to judge. and the verdict issss.... it's ok. as usual in manga, women are treated as plot device/fanservice/put on a pedestal. most of the men are cartoonishly evil antagonists. it's also pretty edgy. the worldbuilding is neither super complex nor has a lot of depth. the storytelling just doesn't generate enough curiosity in me about the mystery surrounding the 'parasites/aliens'. however, I will say I like how the parasitic forms are inspired by myths/stories around the world. also, does his powers even require him to be a doctor? cuz all he has to do is to be infected by whatever, his body regenerates/produces antibodies on a superhuman level, then he spray blood on said whatever to "cure" them. mc himself isn't really a interesting enough chara to force myself to continue reading- he's supposed to be seen as a maniac who's actually a good person, but I've read more compelling pyschos than he'll ever be.
MADK
should not have read this before going to sleep. had a nightmare. the characterization of the charas are so fascinating. only the most twisted, cruel demons can survive in their society.
KAMI NO KODOMO
it's...bizarre. the ending kinda fell flat tho- the way he died was deserved, but i wished we explored more of his mind. the storytelling is pretty great- it's first-person POV and it's interesting. the art is, well, not like those mangas, but it's not the wrong choice, considering some readers wouldnt be able to stomach thru if it was realistic-looking art (ahem, me). it's so abstract yet creepy... i feel horror yet fascination... is it supposed to reflect how he views the world, whom he deemed inferior? who knows, but it's indescribable.
Perfect Victim
i get why the mc refuses to believe the dude about her mom, after all, it's someone she has known her entire life. however, after the evidence she found in the basement, and the fact the mom erased it and lured her into a trap, bro, at that point, not believing that her mom was a willing accomplice is just plain stupidity.
Chi No Wadachi
mom, while beautiful, is so eerily emotionless. the shading is immaculate, framing her in a disturbing and creepy light, even in the beginning she seemed normal, at least her actions were, there was just an unsettling vibe around her. god it's so sad that he's so emotionally attached to his mom, despite having deep anxiety and fear to the extent he developed speech impairment.
