Kamonohashi Ron no Kindan Suiri
ch 6. bro that so-called #1 detective in solved cases clearly said, in the beginning, that his first impressions of people were never wrong. but after the case, he was telling his subordinate that he had learned to view people in a positive light, which he never actually did throughout that particular case. he, as a supposedly smart character, was really disappointing too. also, I'm disappointed that the fact that Ron strangely tells people to die, and the fact that they actually try to go through with it, in a hypnotized-like fashion, was brushed off?? it happened twice already?? it's def a major plot point, and likely the reason he was expelled from the Blue academy, but it was just lightly mentioned as an "illness" and that's it?? and that police lady is annoying fr. she literally has no redeeming traits... she's cold and insulting to the other mc, and it's supposed to be funny? and the fact that she fell for Ron after one case... bruh. ch 8. dumb, that esp guy was dumb. what was he hoping to accomplish by murdering his assistant on TV? whether he successfully tricked the audience, he's gonna be labeled as the murderer since he did order him to guy. and if his trick was exposed, he's still going to jail and be labeled as a fraud with a tarnished reputation. so why go on tv when ur already planning to kill the guy? since ya wanted to make it so elaborate, shouldn't have done it on tv where mistakes can be picked up. dumb shit. ch. 30 i think dr. mofu is sus. what's under her eyepatch...?
Detective Xeno and the Seven Locked Murder Rooms
honestly only those who have a deep knowledge about the mechanisms used for the murders could solve these; the average reader wouldnt know about these things so how can they even hope to solve a bit of it? unlike detective conan, this doesnt really drop any hints about the murderer... but it is really hard to write a good msytery and the author did do his research, regardless of how plauisble these methods are, so it's still pretty good
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro
ch 48. overall enjoyable, but the quality of the pages makes it harder to enjoy. this is prob the mangaka's first work prior to assassination classwork, and u can tell he refines the comedy in his later work, AC. and i feel it's a real shame i even have to mention this, but the high school girl is not sexualized or turned into a fan-service chara at all. she's basically neuro's slave and he actually treats her as such- it's one of the main sources of the comedy here lol
Yuukoku no Moriarty
now i get why people ship sherlock and Moriarty... damn, their chemistry and dynamic is palpable
Kuro no Tantei
it's ok, the ending felt rushed. the mysteries were relatively simple, compared to other detective mangas. the art style is cute, but not really suitable for this kind of story; everything felt light-hearted and the atmosphere never really felt all that heavy when times called for it.
Jukkakukan no Satsujin
couldn't believe ellery died... he was set up like the main character, but then he also died.... sigh. i have to admit, the trick was brilliant, and the mangaka utilized the advantage of manga format, readers's dismissive attention to details, and a bunch of red herrings to pull the wool over our eyes. the storytelling/panelling is pretty simplistic but the art is really gorgeous. the motive ended up kinda cliche, but the reveal that it was all for nothing made it even more bitter and sad. it'll probably torment him forever.
