Monster Child
really like grant, and sophie x grant ch 53: sean should die in the most gruesome way possible. he's a genius, but he has no humanity. like, not he's-a-parasite-who-causes-trouble-for-our-characters way, but he's-a-monster-cruel-narcissistic-psychopath-and-should-be-killed-for humanity way. i wonder if I'm just too dumb or if the end was meant to be cryptic... i know they didn't die perse, but where is this new reality they created?
The Devil's Boy
gawl go to hell. tho, first time I'm curious about the bully antagonist. ch 16, that took a turn i didn't expect. completely blindsided me. and damn, the author has a way of making me feel some emotions for that bully, mrerly because he had some interesting backstory. ch 18. nah, nvm. he should go to hell. but still, pretty conflicted. wanna support both pretty boi and the mc, but nevertheless, gawl(?) is kinda beyond redemption. it really is all about perspective... like that bullied freckles- he actually a flaming misogynistic pig when he's playing video games. ch 25. depressing and heartwrenching. i wanted mc to be happy with yoohee, but author gotta pull another twist like that to blacken the mc even further. seriously, if all villain origins were told like this, i would be cheering for the, to no end. ch 27. the plot fricking thickens! ch 31. the plot thickens once again! damn that Mephisto is a cunning devil. he tricked all the key players, and basically orchestrated mc's descent into corruption and hatred, thus winning his bet against god. there was def some foreshadowing before tho, I just didn't notice. and knowing Faust's ill-fated love for yoohee, makes it sadder. anhow, loved that the author made the bullies(except for galhwa) humane and gave some backstory, instead of making them monsters without remorse. they're all a bunch of punching bags for galhwa ch 45. galwha is a genuinely terrifying villain, bc he's so unhinged and violent and so strong. the plot is soo god, like it's unpredictable- the direction the plot takes is exciting as the mc is undergoing lots of chara development. ch 50. oh my god. i was like "hehehe, that POS is finally gonna die" but then beez-whatever comes along...! on the other hand, jinoh is protagonist level chara for sure; but what a horrible irony that he was "friends" with silhyun(?). ch 66. i was like "this is great! friends reunited!" but now they're enemies... anyway this is one of the more consistently interesting webtoon to this day. ch 68. galhwa seemed humanized when its revealed that he still cares for this one person.. his father's secretary. and he's a genuinely caring and loyal guy too... i don't know what i was hoping for... mc ruthlessly killed him, and then galhwa likewise tracked down the artist mc is indebted to... they're both irredeemable demons now. ch 71. jinoh...you sweet thing...such maturity...! both sihyun and jinoh's hatred is justified, and when i think about it, galhwa is too. its weird bc he has been so horrible and evil for no damn reason, but this hatred transcends time... ig he just subconsciously knew he hated mc. Ch 80. What an ending! Despite everything mc went thru , I really like this ending, bc it meant they passed their tribulation, and galhwa had some closure before he died. Ig mc and galhwa’s entanglement has nothing to do with their previous lives…galhwa just had a lot of rage within him, and all this misfortunes wouldn’t have happened if his dad didn’t interfered. And the tragedy of their previous lives would have never come to light, bc they wouldnt have gotten involved with each other. Their past life shown how weak the human heart is, and their second life really showed how strong forgiveness is.
Promised Orchid
ch 41. pretty strong beginning. it's already established that butterfly girl is the fmc. i don't mind romance, in this case. she's a great, not annoying chara, ill give her that. but jeez, if her only purpose is to serve as the love interest the mc want to protect and save, while also being pretty weak, then she's just a burden. granted, she did help mc in the beginning, and in their recent fight, but let's be honest. it wasn't anything substantial, and her role was pretty small- essentially it was to show the 'power of love prevails over inner demons' shit.
Red Fox -Heul ReDam-
sad that arin still yearns for iza. sana, rather than being swept by the sense of meaninglessness and numbness, it's more like being drowned by that feeling. she is slowly losing her humanity, yet still remains human because she is fundamentally different from the red fox. the red fox in this sequel is slowly learning human emotions such as jealousy, or rather, deciphering it, and how his 'love' evolved from that of the prequel.
Cheolsu Saves the World
i would give this a 10/10. every life failed, I could sense the magnitude of the task and the fact that it can't be so easily solved by bullshitting your way through, he's gradually making more progress, gaining allies, but it still seems so far away bc of those damn greedy bastards. such is the sympathy i feel for mc, who lived 5 lives, worked so hard, yet still hadn't succumbed to depression, and say fuck it all. there is a lot of terminology i don't quite understand (astrophysics??), but still very enjoyable. there's practically no romance, and it honestly doesn't obstruct the story progression in any way bc mc doesn't have time for that. honestly one of the best manhwas, bc of the realistic take on this genre. edit: looking at the tags "isekai" and "reincarnation", I sense some readers seriously don't care to know the difference, and take their time to read thru this gem of a story, and that would explain why the rating is only 9.2 ch 50. ooh the plot thickens!
Owari no Seraph
looks like mika's feelings for yuu is canon. but it's likely yuu's end up with shinoa. not that she's bad, she' very much so in love with him, but mika and yuu's bond is on a whole another level. they're willing to sacrifice the world if it could save the other
Ajin
ch 11. wow. this is good. like the events keep culminating into this climax, the hints were dropped throughout the story, my tension keeps rising. like i kinda had an inkling he was kinda a psychopath, so it wasn't a surprise, but I'm very interested as to how this confrontation will unfold. ch 35.5 holy shit. srsly tho, the ajin demi-human powers is rather simple to explain yet also very fleshed out, but it's ingenious how they use it in many different ways to fight, etc... and now this crazy "transportation" method? absolute nuts. also, the villain, sato, is freaking scary despite looking like a nice granpa, like homelander scary except he doesn't have any weaknesses ch 52. wowowowow the author is brilliant in pulling off these twists leading us around by the nose and then catch us completely by surprise. god, sato is freaking terrifying i literally stop breathing for a sec bro ch 86. great ending. jesus christ sato is srsly terrifying, all that effort and it was almost fruitless and they were ready to give up... also, i kinda like that the origin of the mystery of the demi-human is still kinda vague and unknown, but its allusion to human nature is done quite well, considering all the shit in this story.
Shadow House
pretty damn interesting, like what is going on in this household??
Troll Trap
