Promised Orchid
ch 41. pretty strong beginning. it's already established that butterfly girl is the fmc. i don't mind romance, in this case. she's a great, not annoying chara, ill give her that. but jeez, if her only purpose is to serve as the love interest the mc want to protect and save, while also being pretty weak, then she's just a burden. granted, she did help mc in the beginning, and in their recent fight, but let's be honest. it wasn't anything substantial, and her role was pretty small- essentially it was to show the 'power of love prevails over inner demons' shit.
Battle in 5 seconds after meeting
ch 34. the set-up was good, definitely inspired by other works such as alice in wonderland. the potential was endless... but so far, the execution was mediocre. like, the creator is trying to shove it in our faces that mc is super intelligent, but honestly, he's above average at best, and to top it off he has a thick plot amor- get an ally with no brains to trust you and then tell them ur ability, with that, the range of his ability are boundless. not to mention, despite it being shounen... the ECCHI ...she's literally 17-yo?? granted, it is scarce, but it's still gross. and then, there's the forced romance... it's great that the action, plot, and romance is balanced, but u really couldn't resist adding another love candidate, huh? also, the fl really fell flat. I was initially impressed with the depth of her backstory and sense of justice, but christ, she's the no-brains, all-brawns type with no complexity. however, I do like that other side characters get their spotlight, albeit they aren't as fleshed out. the mystery shrouding the organization that picked them, and how they receive their ability is one of the major reasons i find this engaging. honestly, I'm mostly interested in the office worker lady; she's crazy and I'm here for the reason why. xh 64. ig 30ish chapters was too early to judge for the entirety of this manga. the 3rd stage arc is where things start to pick up. more backstory of key characters is revealed, explaining the actions behind certain charas (ehem, skimpy outfit lady). ig mc is darn smart, in the sense that everything was within his plans. as for fl...she's heroic and cute, but cmon the romance is def the weakest aspect of this manga. ch 76. should've blasted her head off to ensure she's actually dead. but seriously, that woman is a menace. i really dislike her- she's selfish, self-serving, almost as smart as the mc, the way her speech bubbles have hearts...annoying as hell. but she's really compelling too. also, i don't think otomo has the same ability as mc; i mean, it might be a full copycat ability so its even better... ch 118. boy x is pretty interesting. and he even has a connection to omoto aka iori. wait, but are they the same person tho? bc he did not disappear a day prior to his death(he was found dead), and this is a common denominator for all people in the death game... not to mention, he knows a lot about the programs. maybe he did complete the programs, but he went back in time to redo them for some reason. anyway, this story is really picking up; the next course of action ad sequence of events are unpredictable. ch 130. finally used it, huh? the power of friendship/emotions enhanced human strength beyond human limits to unprecedented heights lol. ch 143. the deaths are making me cry ch 152. damn you mion! she is so utterly detestable, and a very compelling antagonist. and, i don't believe omoto is killed just like that. he was hyped up way too much to die such an anticlimactic death. ch 170. koti Kitajima had one of the best character growths ever. period. you will be missed. and mc's father should go to hell and suffer. he doesn't mind killing his son just to pass the programs?? what the hell is this? his reasoning is probably to revive his goddamn wife, huh? ch 194. apparently, things are more complicated than we thought. questions: who is this "maria" the observers mention? what is the story behind mion? is she mc's mom's sister? why did mc repeat the trials? what happened in the original timeline? how long until mc and yuuri kiss?(jk) what really happened to rin when she was younger? will we see omoto again, even tho he's dead? what is the intent of the trials, and who is/are the observer's boss? we must be passed the half way point of this series, right?
How to Survive a Thousand Deaths: Accidentally Wooing Everyone as an Ex-gamer Made Villainess!
another airheaded and dense asf female lead, who claims she doesn't know if she was female or male in her past life, but knows other stuff about herself, such as her hobbies, and the fact she was over 30 yo...then in ch 5.3 after roland saves her, she's like "i think imma fall for him!" .....bruh, he's 8-12 yo.
I’m Not That Kind of Talent
so does he have another persona/fragment dwelling within him? it seems his brother doesn't hate him. tbh i dont think his family despised him either, it's just misunderstandings. edit: based on spoilers, this doesnt have a good ending for mc, he will have to bear the sins of his other personality. damn this should have a tragedy tag, bc the ending and revelations weres hella depressing. this isnt the typical power fantasy with generic protagonist, it's a lot of suffering on mc's end bc of the emperor, duke, and demon king (yes, the demon king isn't on mc's side).
The Knight of Embers
fricking good...!
Overpowered Sword
love the worldbuilding. mc is great, his growth, from wanting to just beat his rival, to realizing he needs to get strong to be a real "hero" for the people, is great. love karen. she is hot, pretty and cute fr fr. also, the saintess with a spiky mace? that's a real subversion of the trope. amazing.
Auto-mode Expired in the 6th Round of the Otome Game
the mc, despite living as the villainess in automode 5 times, still retained her pure kind good nature. the trauma of her past resulted in her caring deeply for genuine human relations, such as with Keith (her best friend and likely the ml, a commoner) and elle and primera. she's also more in tune with people's emotions, and she does give them some weight, like the good person she is, so long as they don't cross boundaries. there's no romance yet (ch 28), and the original otome targets are actually of little significance to the mc, and in extension, the plot rn (well, maybe bc the heroine hadn't arrived yet). of course, despite not having a lot of screentime, they are interesting charas who met mc as children offscreen... and it didn't go that cliched route of everyone falling for her, which was interesting (her mutual nemesis is one she met as a child, he's not reviling, but he's not great either, for hating mc unreasonably). that being said, the mc was considerably patient and thoughtful for that annoying woman who stubbornly wanted to compete against mc. so it was cathartic when she finally got angry and told her off. but she's hella stupid for not suspecting that twin pigtails girl.
