after 9 chapters: the plot, idk; it's not clear. (i think the only purpose of the plot is to make this story not generic and to add some exciting elements, but it seems to serve only one thing: the romance. after all, the sole purpose of going to the battlefield seemed to be for saving the ml, after that, the drama that followed was about building a relationship with ml, and whatever action I expected in regards to fighting the demons with her prowess had no point anymore, bc demonstrating mc's ability was the only purpose. so yeah, if you're thinking this is a half-action half-romance plot bc of chapter 1, this probably won't be it.). so, yep, mc is pretty generic; doesn't leave much of an impression besides that she acts like a kid sometimes, full of emotions (I thought adult's personality become more mellowed out...?), and the fact that she's that naive, in spite of her older age... is really offputting (maybe adults really do become dull as they age...?). in some cases, I wouldn't care if a grown-ass adult act like a kid, but that only applies if there was a specific and reasonable reason. in this case, I see no reason whatsoever; maybe she's actually like that. and I seriously don't understand how you're not attracted to duke Abel, who is probably closer to you in age (and super hot), but you are attracted to the ml, who's way younger?? even if it's not attraction, I will say it's vexing how only the ml can draw out your empathy and affection, like your not looking at your future killer. tacit rule of any romance manhwa: any male, who's not your family, that draws out more emotion than necessary in that given situation(ch 9) is guaranteed to be the ml. and it's also dissatisfying that she doesn't sympathize much with the ori. villainess (she does seem angry and regretful, but it's way stingier compared to her emotions and attachment towards the ml, especially when the villainess died, but ml got his happy ending). mc is seriously biased. AND I don't get the logic of "if I get close to my future killer, he won't kill me??". that's just a plot device to develop the romance. realistically, you should leave him to be saved by another, that way, he won't have any hate or feelings for you. and you're not the villainess who hated the world, so you won't become the final boss and therefore be killed. I mean, you met all the prerequisites to survive- a powerful duke who would protect you, your magical prowess, a good heart(?)- so why on earth would you get entangled with the one person who would kill you?? *sigh*, I really don't get the mindsets of these generic mcs.
The Princess' Jewelry Box
the characters aren't fleshed out. I don't like her as the mc, I don't see her as a strong female lead (only her physical strength is strong, but she's obnoxious). the men in her 'jewelry box' are so shallow; I don't think they feel love for her, just lust and interest. mc's motivation to become empress is so selfish and shallow. who wouldn't like hot men, but having that as the sole reason is so unbelievably stupid. what will happen to eh empire after she takes over? given her personality, she'll just be flirting with her 'jewels' and neglecting the empire. I usually like harem but the plot is so bland, I found this unbearable to read any further. all the fine details about the characters and development would've made this much more interesting. rather than it being a meaningful and quality story, this is more like the author's wish fulfillment.
Into the light once again
the art carried. like it wouldn't be as good or popular if the art wasn't so amazing, no offense. and the narrative absolutely coddles her and keeps shoving it in our faces about how mc is so kind and amazing, the epitome of a lovely thing, justifying why luminas going to fall for her.
I Have To Be A Great Villain
damnn i luv this...! (but is all of mc's mean actions necessary tho?) I'm hoping this is QT and that the romance is slow-paced. their dynamic is a damn lot more interesting than some other bls I've read before. it's great that misunderstandings won't and can't occur due to ml's unique ability~
