Legend of Nereid

Complete | Hwang | 2003 released

Started strong but the end was bland. There wasn't much resolution for any of the characters; it seemed like they all just kept up with or abandoned their poisonous relationships while still pining away for someone else. Not to mention, the plot had quite a few areas that felt like complete rip-offs of Anatolia Story, but not done near as well, which was a bit of an annoyance. But it wasn't a complete waste of time, I'd just recommend stopping at volume 6.

This one was hilarious! And, thankfully, not too long!

Ways Of The Jogang Jicheo Manhwa

Complete | han yu-rang | 2009 released

I liked it, despite the fact that the main guy was a demanding asshole. Not much else to say; it's a pretty typical HMR/HYR series complete with all the tropes: guy still in love with beautiful friend who is dating someone else (usually former friend of guy's), said guy falling for main heroine and being screwed over by the main guy and his crush, multiple girls after main guy because he's super rich (and personalities don't matter once your parents have money, apparently), etc...boring

Princess Finds

Complete | han yu-rang | 2008 released

Hmm...can't remember why I like this one in particular so much but I did. It's got all the mix-ins for an HMR/HYR sundae but this one really kept my interest for a long time. Go figure

Eensy Weensy Monster

I found this super cute and enjoyable! And I'm glad the romance took a back seat in this; the main focus really seemed to be the two MC's trying to understand their emotions, including the dark thoughts we have deep inside that come out when we snap. It gave more depth to the characters, especially considering most of your teenage years are spent trying to understand yourself, rather than getting a boyfriend. What a refreshing change of pace!

Can't tell you why but I really liked this one. Maybe because the main character put her friendship above a boy she liked? Or maybe I just liked both male interests. I didn't care for the neighbor, Tomoko, however. I don't know how to put it but considering how easily she switches boyfriends, it's weird (uncharacteristic maybe?) for her to be involved in a serious love triangle. It just made her seem the type who wanted the boyfriend more once she realized another girl liked him, even though the other girl was her friend.

Aww one of my first mangas! It was cute, fun, interesting, heartbreaking and all that (though I may just be going off of the memories lol). But it is a genuinely good story, despite the fact that the author has her bouncing back and forth from Toji to Kiley like a game of tennis lol. At a certain point, I just wanted a random, baggage-free 3rd guy to come in and sweep Momo off her feet while telling Sae to go fuck herself. But I guess how it ended was fine too ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Peach Girl: Sae's Story

As hard as this manga tried to make me like Sae, I still can't stand her character. She doesn't become a better person miraculously, and her past just shows her being a bitch to a dog just because she's weak. It's not as if she really accepts the dog at the end either. I don't know, somehow the story is lacking...depth? Maybe it needed another volume that actually showed her actually getting stronger instead of faking it all of the time. Despite the interesting character traits (she's cunning, stubborn, headstrong, etc), she's still such a pathetic character. Boo... ( ̄ε(# ̄)Σ

Ouji To Hero

It started out moderately interesting (I'd give it 3 stars) but the chapters 14 & 15 were so awful I couldn't believe it. The ending was so rushed that it ruined the entire story! First off, how did the author think it would be okay to reconcile 2 couples and a pair of friends in all of 10 pages? So 2 years of hatred and misunderstanding are gone with a simple high five? Did Hero ever take back his withdrawal? Who destroyed Megumi's house and how/why did she come across Hero and come to depend on him, especially when she liked Ouji so much? If Hero knew their feelings were mutual, why didn't he just tell Ouji where she was rather than waste 2 years taking care of her? I'm assuming her paid her rent too, considering her family went bankrupt. And the whole "weak body" situation just seemed like a convenient excuse the author had pop up out of thin air considering the Megumi of the past seemed perfectly healthy and we never actually saw her get sick or injured or anything that would cause her to become so physically fragile. Not to mention, this author seems to have a really bad habit of making her characters act cold as their only means of communication. Ouji acts coldly, then Hero acts coldly, then Megumi acts coldly to Hana for staying close to Hero after making that request, then Hero acts coldly again, then that random girl who likes Ouji ends her friendship act all of a sudden and turns cold too? ...what?!!! It made so little sense I couldn't stop rolling my eyes the entire time I was reading.
