Negao wa Micha Iya
Normally, a story with such a lack of impact would probably have gotten a 2/3 star rating from me just because I didn't care enough to dislike it but this story is the peak of unremarkable stories I've read so far, and I feel it deserves some sort of recognition for that. It has a paper thin plot and the most boring characters I've come across in a while. The plot development was virtually non-existent -it just sort of coasted above actual drama the entire time. And the one possible source of drama was cleared up without much trouble (maybe it was an issue with the pacing?). If I were to describe it, it's like the feeling you get when you realized that you've just finished watching an entire TV program, but can't recall anything about it. Long story short: if you're looking for a manga that will evoke an emotional response, keep looking. If you just want something to kill 20 minutes...also keep looking; you can easily find a better way to waste time on this site.
Kare First Love
Meh. It was pretty typical and dragged on for a while. Read it all of two weeks ago and legitimately couldn't remember how it ended/main drama or any of that so it certainly doesn't make an impression. Luckily, the art was nice enough to remind me. Pretty typical stuff, though.
Bokutachi Wa Shitte Shimatta
Originally tried to read this and was so bored I had to stop. Tried again a few years later and was still bored but...the side characters like her friend and his brother were interesting enough to keep me going. Lots of pointless drama and such mostly resulting from the fact that the guy is a grade A idiot who doesn't seem to understand that girlfriends and girl friends don't get treated the same and the girl is a weak willed child who doesn't know how to voice her opinions.
Boku kara Kimi ga Kienai
Cliche after cliche after cliche mixed with a plot that needed a horse and wagon to be carried...but I finished it and didn't absolutely hate it so 2 stars
Hadashi De Bara Wo Fume
Somehow I really liked this series. I genuinely can't tell you why (the kids? the fact that she was really good at shogi? the double crossing?) but I did. And I liked the characters as well as the way the plot flowed. I'm not a big fan of this author's other works either, so this really made an impact on me :)
The Pearl Grudge
What can I say- I'm a sucker for historical mangas ^^. I really do prefer Japanese history, though, and the art was a bit...freakish
Atashi No Banbi
Cute! This author always draws hilarious facial expressions ^^
Nekota no Koto ga Ki ni Natte Shikatanai
It's a cute and somewhat funny story about a 6th grade transfer student who, for some reason, sees the most popular guy in her class as a freak with a cat's head. Occasionally, she'll catch the slightest glimpse of something like a human face and thus fuels her determination to see what he really looks like. Definitely young for me, but it was still fairly enjoyable. Nekota was a cute kid and there were moments that touched even a jaded adult like me. Gotta say, I was really let down with his actual face, though. It just seemed...off. Like, I could tell what look the author was going for, but it didn't end up quite right and he looked a bit deformed.
Caramel Milk Tea
A collection of four 1 shots. To be honest, I only read the first two and skimmed the last two (^v^). But it's still a fairly good shoujo collection. The 2nd party falls for the first pretty quickly after being confessed to but what else do you expect in one chapter? I thought it presented a few different perspectives considering the stories had a very high school life theme so that was interesting to read.
