Eien No With
Ugh such a tear jerker! Glad the two ended up together in the end, though.
There Is A Song For You
This mangaka always leaves me confused; I never know how to feel about her works. I guess it speaks to her talents as an author, though. The reason I don't know whether to like or hate her works is probably because she makes her characters so perfectly flawed. No one is good or bad, just a volatile mix of desires and contradiction; hence why I never feel that her stories have a "happy end". It's eerily realistic and really shows her talent!
Flower of Life
Loved it! Although it seemed to drag on in some places (most likely because I'm running off an all nighter), it was still a really lovely story about a lot of different personalities coming together and forging meaningful bonds.
Plus Anima
It wasn't bad but the ending was a bit confusing and sudden so it kinda let down the whole story for me. So this was all because of that psycho's weird love for a doll? And how did Cooro call back his +anima? It seems like this needed another chapter or so to actually explain what happened in the last chapter. But the story overall was cute- I never needed to think too deeply about anything so it was pleasant. I do think Senri was absolutely the most developed character and enjoyed his arcs a lot.
Game X Rush
Really well done! Wished it were longer but the irresolute resolution did fit the story quite well. The plot surprised me quite a bit- I wouldn't have been able to predict where it was going in the first several chapters so it was great in that respect.
Terpenoid
I liked it way more than I thought I would! The kid was adorable!!!! I definitely wish I could read more about both couples because the chapters so far hinted at some deep backstories that could really be explored.
Senya Ichiya - Shitone no Himegoto
This was really heartbreakingly wonderful; a gripping look at how society criminalizes and crucifies innocent people without even meaning to, simply for not adhering to some standard. I'm no good at pretty words so I'll just say it was great, but the last 2 chapters were what really made this manga stellar. And the thing I like the most about this author (aside from the non-fem ukes) is the fact that every chapter builds on the stories of her couples. No random one shots are necessary; she can give you a "new" feeling simply by showing the same characters in different atmospheres as they navigate through life and romance and each new story reveals something more about either their past, present, or personalities. Just a really great read!
Region
So sad to see the good guys die so close to salvation!!!! The beginning with the rats really had me feeling some type of way since it seemed so possible but after random animals kept popping up over and over, I just started getting annoyed. I kinda got the feeling the author just picked whatever animal she wanted to eat people/get in their way just to add more drama. It was like a shorter, less organic version of BioMeat which I really liked (organic in this sense refers to developing the plot naturally rather than forcing it along), but may have been comparable if it were longer and therefore had more time in between infestations so they seemed less sudden/random. An interesting choice to leave the sensei alive at the end, and it certainly made for a nice comical scene to cut up the gut wrenching action up to this point. I also would have preferred to see more character development in the main character but considering the length and action heavy plot, the author did reasonably well with what she had.
