Kare Wa Tsumetai Furi O Shite

Complete | hoshimori yukimo | 2009 released

The girls' eyes legitimately took up half of their faces, so that was a bit hard to get over. Other than that, the stories weren't anything special: typical whiny heroine, typical "resist, resist, resist, then give in" male leads, the works. Interestingly enough, it also felt like the quality of the stories decreased towards the later chapters (or was it just me?), especially with the last chapter. It's like the author just gave up on having sensible plot development.

This really needed some work, whether it be with the pacing, art, or the translation, particularly during the kissing scene at the end. Since it's only 2x pages long, we don't really have time to learn the characters' names/personalities all that well so throwing in some ambiguous text bubbles make it hard to follow the text properly. Tbh, I thought the Satomi was the son's name, then the seme's name, and only now realize it was the uke's name. Why? For one, I don't think the son ever had a name. Also, we see a kiss between the two where someone says "Satomi" without sufficient context or even good placing to show who exactly was saying it. It's so bad that I can't tell if the summary is inaccurate or not.

Koishiteru!?

Complete | takazawa taeko | 2006 released

I liked the art but the stories annoyed me a bit; it seems like the guys just did whatever they wanted, relentlessly pursuing the ukes and forcing themselves on them, only to be forgiven because they just happened to fall magically in love. Also, the translation of the story surrounding the second couple was a bit difficult to understand- even though I got the main points, there were a lot of sentences that just plain didn't make sense.

It was a nice enough story, even if the end/them falling in love was pretty rushed. What got to me was the quality. I'm not particularly picky and can deal with double pages, but the person who scanned didn't try to scan all of the words properly so a ton of pages had text that just couldn't be read. It was pretty annoying.

I didn't care for it somehow. Guess it just wasn't my type of story?

Heart O Uchinomese!

Complete | george asakura | 2002 released

It was frustrating and I wanted to stop reading several times, but, in the end, I'm glad I finished it. All in all, I can't say I particularly liked any of the characters, except maybe Shina whose only problem was chuunibyou. Can't say I liked any of the stories, either. But I didn't dislike the manga at all. I suppose it was one of those stories that made me think "Ah the follies of youth!" Though I'm certainly glad none of my follies were as stupid as some of these! I will forever hate Kitano; he's a manipulative asshole jackass. But, I hate Atsuko too- she's so in love with the idea of being in love, she lets herself be manipulated. But, as twisted as it is, you can still see there's some weird form of love (or maybe codependence? mutual wound licking?) there. I think I would have liked to see a brief snapshot of their futures, or at least some proof that they became somewhat reasonable adults. Because at the rates they seem to be going, most of them are headed for destruction!

Hmm...it was alright? Some of the stories were funny (the two delinquents one was downright hilarious) but the rest were rather dull. Not much in the way of emotion, either. Just short stories to make you giggle to yourself a bit and move on.

The first one was...alright, I guess? It was so predictable I knew where it was going by the 4th or 5th page, but I quite liked the MC (who didn't think of him badly just because he seemed nerdy) so I wouldn't have minded a few more chapters. The second story was kinda dumb. Nothing enjoyable about it; the characters didn't have any depth and the "romance" seemed to come out of nowhere. The girl was dramatic- not in terms of relationships, but just in how she overreacted to every single thing that happened.

At first I hated it. The dialogue/narration was super repetitive, everything either trudged along at a snail's pace or completely sped through/skipped over scenes, and the story was just boring. Most importantly, I hated everything about the MC, especially the way she adopted this holier than thou attitude and blamed everyone else for her decisions. I was glad to see her turnaround at the end, though; at the very least, I preferred her when she embraced her own shallowness and chose to live the way she wanted. Still can't say I liked her even at the end, though. In all honesty, I quite liked Jo's character, maybe because I could understand her feelings/actions? She was neither a saint nor a villain; I can completely relate to her desire to on the one hand help someone who was just like a younger her and, on the other, hating the MC for thinking she could succeed where she(Jo) failed. And it's her character (and the MC's turnaround) that made me give this 3 stars instead of 1. But...I still can't claim to have enjoyed it, though it was a very new experience for me in the world of manga/manhwa reading.
