Hajimari no Niina
Really cute and sweet! I do wish the author spent more time hashing out the past life drama though. It was such a promising backdrop to the story!
Diamond Head
The plot seemed a little...out there? Ridiculous? But still enjoyable. The mangaka did a great job pulling out the characters' emotions though, and seemed to have a real knack for painting dark emotions onto a seemingly lighthearted plot. As such, I find it rather difficult to classify this as shoujo, or even josei. The ending was definitely very rushed, which was a disappointment after all the emotional buildup beforehand. The scene with Setsu's email was absolutely beautiful and heartwrenching, though, and had me sobbing for longer than I'd like to admit. TT_TT
Conductor
Flautist has terrifying nightmares pointing to a time she can't remember and has to turn to a psychologist for help, unleashing a series of events centered around her and her music mates/friends from college. Coupled with the discovery of a headless mummy, twisted, sordid story of love, avarice, and betrayal unfolds. Super good!
House of Beauties
High school girl runs away to Tokyo to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. One step before being homeless, she finds an inexpensive boarding house with one condition: all tenants must be beautiful. Review: Uh...okay I guess? It wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. A solid shoujo- great for passing time.
Himegimi To Sanbiki No Kemono
An adventure loving king passes away, leaving his only daughter with nothing but stories of the world and a vague description of the priceless treasure he left for her. Unfortunately for the princess, her cautious mother becomes even more overprotective after the king's passing, and her only route to escaping her cage is through her imagination. That is, of course, until the 3 beasts, an infamous thief trio, arrive at the castle in hopes of capturing that treasure for themselves... REALLY cute story!
Fujoshi Kanojo
College student Taiga, after a successful confession to his love-at-first-sight work senpai, casually breezes over her reply "I'm a fujoshi; is it still okay?" Once they start dating, however, he begins to understand just what that means... Rather funny story. The girlfriend annoyed me a bit with her insistence on pairing him up with the world, to the point where he even wanted to hide the fact that he had a somewhat close relationship with another male character. So I guess I wish I could have seen a more satisfying confrontation on that point. The MC's friends were hilarious though- Kouji may have been my favorite character of the whole series.
Seishun Otome Banchou!
Mihane, daughter of the main couple for Junai Tokkou Taichou, has a scary (read: terrifying) face. But that doesn't stop her from falling in love -and chasing after- the handsome Touma. Mmm...it was hilarious! The main character was funny, crazy, and just an all around strange person. I didn't much care for Touma- he was kind of an asshole in the beginning and then just passively received the benefits of Mihane without really doing much of anything. Towards the end, a bit of personality started to emerge so I do wish it could have continued a bit more.
